The Design, Trials and Statistics section of the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) is seeking to recruit a Medical Statistician Research Assistant or Research Associate in Statistics who has a passion for statistics (and applied research) and a willingness to share their passion, enthusiasm and knowledge with others. The post will be based within the Clinical Trials Research Unit (CTRU) and will involve working day-to-day with colleagues within the Medical Statistics Group and with researchers involved in our portfolio of clinical studies.
You will have a good working knowledge of applied statistics and basic statistical theory, be keen and enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and be inquisitive. You will exhibit a “can do” attitude to new activities knowing your strengths and skills whilst being flexible and able to adapt to change.
You will be able to communicate effectively with non-statisticians (particularly clinicians and allied health professionals) to ensure the CTRU is able to design and conduct high quality studies.
With exceptional interpersonal skills you will relate well to others in the team establishing good working relationships across teaching and research. You will also contribute to ScHARR’s research portfolio, building on your background and interests.
You will work with colleagues in the Medical Statistics Group, Design, Trials and Statistics Section, ScHARR, and the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health. You will provide timely, well-received and high quality statistical input to research projects, including input to the design, analysis, and reporting of studies. You will also be expected to be involved in other Medical Statistics Group activities which include: teaching statistics in tutorials for undergraduate and postgraduate students and attending internal and external meetings.
