Head of Purchasing

A successful family owned business with a global customer base are recruiting for a Head of Purchasing. This engineering & manufacturing business is looking for someone to execute the strategy for purchasing team. This is a permanent role based in Banbury, and you will have experience in a similar procurement function.

Commutable from: Banbury, Bicester, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Northampton, Leamington Spa, Coventry

**Salary**: £ 50,000- £ 55,000 per year

Plus annual bonus, car allowance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, pension scheme, cycle scheme, private health insurance and others

The Role

The Head of Purchasing will be responsible for:
- Follow business purchasing strategy and develop an effective supplier sourcing and management process- Lead, support and manage the tendering process for all company purchases, managing purchasing team to ensure a high level of performance- Maximise profit by tendering contracts and meeting with key suppliers to negotiate the best terms contract- Realise and deliver end-to-end cost savings, together with a range of additional benefits including improved supplier performance, improved quality of service and total cost of performance along with risk management of the supply base- Remove all areas of supplier waste in the business through a developed supply chain strategy.- Assist team to produce and stick to procurement work plan and create dashboard controls for each.- Work closely with finance, sales and product managers.- Work closely with all suppliers and create close relationships with key strategic partners in line with the set supplier strategy, including Asian supply office.

The Person- Strong purchasing experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment- Qualified or working towards CIPS qualification Level 4-
- Proven track record of growing and leading a team- Strong commercial and negotiation experience- Experience with Winman would be beneficial- Industry knowledge in the fastener market would be desirable- Dealing with UK based suppliers and also overseas experience would be beneficial- Excellent communication skills- Able to work well under pressure
