Sheffield, United Kingdom Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust Full time

In response to NHS England’s (NHSE) Service Specification for Genomics services in England, Newcastle Teaching Hospitals, Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Sheffield Children’s Trust and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals formed the North East & Yorkshire Genomic Laboratory Hub (NEYGLH). Together our Trusts offer a range of general and specialist hospital services with excellent clinical outcomes for patients. We have an international reputation for excellence in specialist care, research and academic training.

Genomics is key to transforming healthcare in England and is undergoing significant transformation to create state-of-the-art Genomics Hubs with access to high performance equipment and informatics in order to support a highly skilled workforce.

Developing the scientific and technical workforce is vital to the success of the national Genomics Medicine Service (GMS) but this cannot be achieved without excellent education and training. To support this, Health Education England and NHSE are developing a national Genomics Training Academy and providing additional training resource within each GLH. Education specialist posts will be advertised in each GLH region, as well as national posts to work within the Genomics Training Academy.

NEYGLH are recruiting a Training Co-Ordinator to work within a training team lead by the NEYGLH Education and Training Lead. Postholders will also work with the national Genomics Training Academies to deliver training across the GMS to agreed standards.

With support and direction from the GLH Education and Training Lead, and in collaboration with Training Officers across the GLH sites, responsibilities of the Training Co-Ordinator role include:

- Curating and maintaining education and training resources
- Developing and distributing communications regarding education and training to signpost, promote and co-ordinate equitable access
- Assisting with organising and co-ordinating events
- Designing and delivering education and training as appropriate to role
- Supporting data collection and analysis of education and training activity
- Keeping records of education and training activity
- Supporting the activity of the NEY GLH Education and Training Group
- Working collaboratively with the NEY GLH Education and Training Lead and wider training team to support effective, efficient, inclusive and innovative training delivery
- Working autonomously on specified projects

Sheffield Children’s is one of three independent, specialist paediatric hospitals in the country, providing dedicated healthcare for children and young people across community, mental health and acute specialist settings.

We have three overarching aims that set the direction for the Trust in our vision “to create a healthier future for children and young people.”
- Outstanding patient care
- Brilliant place to work
- Leader in children’s health

Our commitment to rewarding colleagues is demonstrated through our brilliant reward and benefits offer including; generous annual leave entitlement and pension scheme and access to salary sacrifice schemes such as cycle to work and lease cars.

We are committed to supporting colleagues from different heritages and lifestyles while at work. This is supported through the offer we have in place for flexible working and the three equality network groups we have in place. Colleagues are encouraged to join these groups and request flexible working.

For more information on the main responsibilities for this post, please refer to the job description and person specification.
