**Job Description**:
The Job Holder is responsible for assisting the Unit in all aspects of underwriting new and renewal business, helping to build and develop a profitable and balanced portfolio of risks.

Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain beneficial working relationships with brokers, clients, vendors, re-insurers and other internal and external stakeholders to develop business and achieve targets set out in the business plan, in accordance with company policy on underwriting standards and controls.
- Underwrite such classes of business as outlined in the Underwriting Authority and Guidelines document to achieve targets set out in the Unit’s business plan whilst monitoring global aggregation.
- Must work, at all times, within Underwriting, Pricing and Underwriting Authority Guidelines.
- Participate in marketing the Unit’s products and services through approved broker network.
- Develop and maintain agency and/or broker relationships.
- Check Daybook entries to ensure accuracy of data inputted.
- Where appropriate, work alongside the Cyber Product, Pricing, Training and Breach Response and Cyber Operations Teams to understand and contribute directly to the success of their initiatives.
- Compare and review insurance contracts.
- Maintain, where appropriate, office files and systems in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assist with regulatory and ad-hoc administration.
- Monitor portfolio of risks on systems such as Desktop, Daybook, Tableau and PPL.
- Monitor regulatory, market and agency bulletins and circulars and disseminate information to the Unit.
- Ensure risks written are in compliance with Axis and Lloyd’s Minimum Standards.
- Attend client presentations and gather information for underwriting purposes whilst representing Axis.
- Undertake appropriate training courses and professional examinations to enhance knowledge of insurance and Cyber insurance sectors including modules included in the Cyber & Technology Division Learning Pathway.
- Where appropriate, liaise with other departments on various issues such as risk entries, premium queries, contract certainty, premium bookings, claims, exception reports and credit control queries.
- Prepare risks to enable in-team and independent Peer Review.
- Liaise with the Delegated Underwriting Authority and Conduct Risk teams on coverholder business.
- Act in a way that pays due regards to the interests of customers and treats them fairly at all times.
- Use formal reporting mechanisms to promptly notify relevant parties of any perceived new risks or failures of existing control measures.
- Consider, at all times, the effect of any actions taken on the customers of Axis with the intention of improving their experience.
- Must endeavour, at all times, to provide accurate, complete and appropriate data, in accordance with the Axis Data Policy.

Core Competencies: Knowledge and Skill Level Required

Background
- Knowledge of Axis history, structure/organisation and activities
- Knowledge of general insurance and Cyber & Technology Insurance
- Knowledge of principles and practice of reinsurance
- Knowledge of FCA, PRA and Lloyd’s of London including applicable compliance requirements
- Background in Cyber, Media or Technology insurance, preferably within the London market

Required Skills and Experience
- Graduate Degree Level Qualifications preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
- Excellent technology literacy, including competence in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office systems.
- Excellent numeracy and analytical skills, including ability to analyse and compare data and reports.
- Ability to analyse data and present results in a clear and concise manner.
- Excellent Verbal and Written communication.
