Assessment Support Worker

Waking Night Full time worker completing minimum of 14 shifts per 4 week rota. All shifts 12.5 hours
- 19:30pm to 08:00am. Flexible working will be required to meet the needs of the service. There will be a requirement to undertake shifts in order to allow Family ACE to offer a 24/7 fully supported family setting. Family ACE is a Residential Family centre in Liverpool. Family ACE aims to provide a safe, homely, nurturing environment. Our team of support/key workers and our resident Social Workers will provide families with support and guidance, both practical and emotional, in all areas of parenting and within life skills.
Whilst caring for their children, parents will be assessed using an appropriate Social Care Parenting Assessment tool and will be encouraged to develop new skills, emotional resilience and self-esteem to help prepare parents to care safely for their child/children. We have strong links with parenting service providers in the Merseyside area and our team is committed to making a positive difference to the lives of the families who are referred to us. **Qualifications and Skills Required**
- Effective, proven communication skills;
- The proven ability to undertake observations and document findings;
- Flexible, cooperative approach to work and the ability to work within a small team;
- A desire to make a positive difference to the lives of our service users;
- An understanding of the National Minimum Standards for a Residential Family Centre;
- An NVQ Level 3 Diploma Working with Parents is desirable
- A current and valid First Aid Certification is desirable, with a preference to include paediatric First Aid
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- To demonstrate a full understanding of and commitment to the purpose of the assessment period;
- To be flexible in your approach to work and to understand that alternative hours of working / working on a rota basis will be required;
- To work as part of a team, demonstrating an understanding of the Family ACE mission and values and behaviours expected of all our staff and placed families;
- To assist in the development of objective, fair and robust assessments based on detailed observations of the placed family;
- To ensure the safety of children remains central to the assessment / intervention process.
- To also promote the health, welfare and safety of all residents and colleagues;
- To undertake ongoing risk assessments of the service users, acting decisively to protect children;
- To build appropriate professional working relationships and work in partnership with other parenting providers
- To communicate effectively with colleagues at changeovers and ensure information is shared within the team;
- To participate fully in training and along with input from the Registered Manager, identify personal development plans with training and aspirational objectives;
- To promote and maintain equal opportunities within the working environment;
- To have an awareness and understanding of Family ACE policies and procedures as well as relevant Government guidelines, legislation and best practice paying particular attention to Child Protection, Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities, anti-discriminatory and health and safety policies;
- To participate in the ethos of a skilled professional team, attending and participating in team meetings, regular supervision meetings, and personal development meetings;
- To undertake other duties or tasks identified by the Registered Manager, in order to enable our all within Family ACE to provide an outstanding service to our residents;
- Furthermore, to continually offer the best support possible to provide families with the best opportunity of demonstrating their individual parenting skills. Which in turn will enable Family ACE to meet the objectives of developing sustainable families who can effectively function upon a return to community settings.
**Person Specific Criteria**
- You are to have good Early Years knowledge;
- Experience of supporting families;
- You will have experience of working with children, young people, or parents within settings such as a children’s centre, family contact centre or residential home;
- You will be organised, dynamic and adaptable and have the confidence and ability to develop and flourish within your role;
- You will have experience of working within a team and independently;
- You will need the confidence to refer families to the relevant agencies and have the communication expertise to provide clear and evidence-based information and recordings;
- You will act as a positive role model for the parents in your care and you will be responsible for ensuring their physical, social and emotional care and development;
