**Job summary**:
In the Cabinet Office People and Places division, we partner with the people who run Government and deliver on the most challenging agenda. Our clients shape our country: overseeing Government’s major projects, transforming how Government operates, contributing to the development of our functional agenda, to name just a few examples.

We provide a professional and strategic HR offer for the business that delivers an organisation of the right shape and structure, with the right staff, with the right skills, and the right capability to deliver its objectives.

Ensuring our workforce has an effective HR Operational service is critical to good employee experience, and our payroll, resourcing, Occupational Health and Workplace adjustments teams are critical to this.

**Job description**:
We’re on a really exciting journey as a Team. And this role will play a significant part in making our plans a reality to transform operational services in the Cabinet Office and make a real difference. Around this we’re a small, friendly and supportive Team that works together to achieve our goals in a fast paced delivery environment. You’ll work with colleagues across Cabinet Office People and Places too, which is seen from within as a great place to work.

If you have operational experience plus skills in the other areas, this is an exciting opportunity. And if you’re interested, but would like to know more about the role or working at Cabinet Office, please do get in touch (details below).

The main focus of this position, as an HR Officer, is to support critical operational activity in one of our HR Operations teams. This will initially be the People and Business Services team which delivers payroll but may change depending on the needs of the business. There will also be opportunity to feed into wider team goals and transformation work.

The responsibilities of the role holder will include, but not limited to:

- Building working relationships and working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
- Providing a high level of customer service to the business; actively improving services within the department and offering bespoke support when required
- Escalating difficult or challenging enquiries as appropriate
- Ensuring accurate information management on all relevant databases and data logs to help inform required reports
- Engaging corporately and professionally with the HR team and wider Cabinet Office
- Continually looking for new ways to improve the HR datasets and wider ways of working
- Acting as a first point of contact for Team queries, maintaining an effective inbox process and delivering a high level of customer service
- Managing end to end casework for employees. This involves regular communication with individuals, line managers, HRBPs and other HR colleagues

**Person specification**:
**Essential Skills Required**:

- Confident communicator, both verbally and written, and able to understand, translate and relay information clearly
- Ability to manage stakeholders and understand the importance of building and maintaining relationships
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage and prioritise workload at pace
- Work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
- Good problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to take a proactive approach where needed to resolve issues or escalate as needed
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work within a changing environment and respond to different demands with a sense of urgency
- Comfortable working with data and providing basic levels of analysis based on HR MI

**Behaviours**:
We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:

- Learning and development tailored to your role.
- An environment with flexible working options.
- A culture encouraging inclusion and diversity.
- A Civil Service Pension which provides an attractive pension, benefits for dependants and average employer contributions of 27%.
- A minimum of 25 days of paid annual leave, increasing by one day per year up to a maximum of 30.
