General Assistant

**Location**: Iron Acton Garden Centre

**Working Pattern**:Wednesday 9am-5pm, Thursday 9am-5pm and alternate weekends Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 10am-5pm.

We are currently looking for a friendly, polite and efficient **General Assistant,** someone with high standards and that would leave a lasting impression on our customers, so that our customers will want to visit us again.

**Main Duties/Tasks**:

- Working on the tills will be your main focus but you will be required to work in other areas of the garden centre when needed.
- Support the Duty Manager in the day to day running of the Garden centre.
- High standard of customer service.
- Maintain the garden centre’s appearance keeping the shelves and display units stocked to a high standard.
- Ensure that the stock is rotated, and date checked.
- Unload deliveries ensure stock is correctly priced and put out onto the shop floor.
- Carry customer purchases to their vehicles.
- Report any shortages and damages to the Duty Manager.
- Store overstocks in the allocated area(s).
- Make sure that the garden centre is ready for the next day’s trading.

**Requirements**:

- Retail Experience preferred but not essential
- Good Communicator, oral and written
- Team Player
- Flexible with working hours due to the nature of the business and covering for holidays.
- Health and Safety Conscious
- The position will require a lot of heavy lifting.

**Salary and Company Benefits**:

- Starting salary exceeds age related minimum wage up to £11.65
- 28 days annual leave including paid Bank Holidays, pro-rata basis for part-time employees.
- Uniform and safety shoes will be provided.
- Discounted rates on food and drink in our restaurant whilst working.
- In store staff discount after completion of a successful probation.
