The role is predominantly concerned with supporting the Chief Nurse to ensure the best possible standard of care delivery by Allied Health Professionals across the Trust and provide senior leadership for the Trust for this agenda.

The post holder will be a highly skilled senior leader within the Trust and have excellent clinical communication and interpersonal skills, able to manage complex sensitive situations to ensure that all staff understand the role they play and what the domains/ KLOEs are in relation to the AHP agenda and their service.

The post will work closely with teams to improve and develop all aspects of AHP practice, provide visible AHP leadership and influence the development of services to ensure continuous improvements in the quality of care. This post will also lead continuous quality improvement in relation to AHPs of all services ensuring that the patient experience and learning lessons influence the Trust’s future development and are embedded within everyday practice.
1. To ensure the maintenance of professional standards of care within the Healthcare Professions Council (HCPC) Code of Professional Practice.
2. Provide trust wide assurance that the Trusts AHP workforce is fit to practice and working within their profession’s scope of practice and work with HCPC as required.
3. Ensure that appropriate training and quality standards are set and maintained by all AHP staff Trust wide.
4. Provide expert professional advice to the Trust on AHP matters to ensure that all statutory requirements and professional standards affecting Allied Health Professions are recognised and incorporated in the Trusts business.
5. Providing expertise and skill in communication, work with the AHP Leads and Heads of Professions to ensure strategic and operational delivery of the AHP workforce priorities.
6. Provide professional leadership and Lead divisions AHP Leads in their objective setting and personal development planning, guiding and directing their work as appropriate and support the support the strategic aims of the Trust and wider GM system.
7. Lead and negotiate highly complex situations including Trust wide strategic planning for the AHP agenda on behalf of the Chief Nurse in line with the Trust strategic priorities.
