Research Associate

Prestwich, United Kingdom Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The post holder will work across a number of high-profile research projects led by the GM Digital Research Unit. For example, the Enhancing CAMHS referrals project (EN-CAMHS) is looking at improving the quality of referrals to CAMHS services. We aim to understand what the difficulties are in making referrals to CAMHS services. We want to find low-cost and widely reusable mechanisms to reduce inappropriate referrals and to improve the quality of referrals to CAMHS services so that only children and young people who can be helped by CAMHS are referred.

Another project is the Core Mental Health Data Set (CMHDS) project which aims to support the routine collection of mental health information alongside physical health information. The links between mental and physical health are important but little understood because information about physical and mental health are rarely collected together. The project aims to support the use of a ‘common mental health dataset’ that can collect mental health data in physical health studies.

The post holder will also work across various other research projects and activities within the GM. Digital Research Unit related to digital mental health.

This full-time post is funded until 31 March 2024

The post holder will join a multidisciplinary team including clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, research associates, research assistants and trial managers/coordinators to support the delivery of funded research activity.

The post-holder will receive line management support from Co-Directors, GM Digital team in Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH). This includes regular line management supervision, clear objective setting for 3, 6 and 12 months and annual appraisals thereafter (depending on continued funding for the post)
