**Position - Early Years Practitioner (0-2 years room)**

**Hours**:Full Time: 30 Hour Contract (with guaranteed extra hours)

**Salary**:Minimum Wage

**Minimum Qualification**:Level 3 in Childcare and Education (Essential)

**Minimum Experience**:Childcare - 1 year (Essential)

Experience in a baby room environment - Essential

We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible, enthusiastic, reliable, dedicated and passionate childcare practitioner with good communication skills who has the ability to contribute to a strong team.

We provide high quality care and education for children aged 0 - 5 years in a mixed age nursery with 2 learning environments: 0-2yrs room and 2+ years room.

**Job Description (EYP)**

Responsible to: Nursery Manager / Deputy Nursery Manager / Senior EYP

The Nursery Practitioner is a key member of the early years’ team and is responsible for delivering high quality care and learning opportunities for children based on their needs and interests.

Purpose of Post:

- To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children primarily aged 0-2 years at Coundon and Leeholme Early Years Centre C.I.C.
- To have specific training/knowledge of working with babies and children under two years old in order to support their individual needs.
- To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all children can play, develop and learn.
- To build and maintain a strong partnership with parents to enable children’s needs to be met.

**Main Duties**:

- To effectively deliver the EYFS, ensuring that the individual needs and interests of the children in the setting are met (in conjunction with the other team members).
- Display exemplary practice at all times.
- To use professional knowledge of the individual and diverse ways that children learn and develop to meet their differing needs. To establish positive and sensitive relationships with children. To act as a role model and set achievable expectations.
- To promote the inclusion of all children.
- To help ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times.
- Plan and provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment that is appropriate for all children, enabling them to reach their potential.
- Plan, prepare and carry out experiences which encourage development, creativity, coordination, independence, self-expression and learning through play.
- To ensure records are properly maintained, e.g., daily attendance register, risk assessments, accident forms...
- To observe children’s development and add document observations on their online learning journey’s.
- Ensure your key children’s learning journeys are kept up to date, providing observations and assessments - displaying their ongoing progress. Regularly share these with parents and carers.
- To advise the manager/deputy of any concerns, e.g., over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
- To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other members of staff.
- Contribute to the effectiveness of teamwork.
- Work in partnership with parents and carers, recognising that parents are their children’s first educators, and encourage parental involvement in the nursery.
- Work in partnership with other early years professionals and outside agencies.
- To be aware of child protection issues and follow the nursery’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Participate in professional development and training.
- To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the nursery.
- To undertake and lead on additional responsibilities such as SENCO, training coordinator, safeguarding officer etc...
- To meet the physical needs of children by encouraging good standards of safety, personal hygiene, whilst promoting independence.
- To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g., training, staff meetings, summer fairs etc...
- Act as a representative of your nursery and the Company, promoting a professional image at all times.

*Any other duties as required by the Nursery Manager or Deputy Nursery Manager within the scope and spirit of the role.
