To be a role model for nursing staff by ensuring good and safe practice at all times. Promote and facilitate a patient centred approach to care, to set monitor and maintain standards of nursing care. Deliver care in keeping with the needs and wishes of patients and their families To maintain clinical credibility through best practice. To utilise the findings of nursing research to optimise high quality evidence based care and to disseminate relevant information to staff.

Act as a link nurse for specific aspects of clinical practice in accordance with needs of the department and personal special interests. To be accountable for own professional practice and responsible for acquiring, developing and maintaining competencies and skills. In an emergency situation the nurse will be required to respond speedily and swiftly for the patient well-being. Supporting junior staff during and after any emergency situation.

To ensure the safe custody and administration of medicines in accordance with established Trust procedure and policy. Is accountable for actions and Complies with NMC Code of Professional Conduct for Nurse, Midwives & Health Visitors
