Manchester, United Kingdom Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Full time

This post is to work within the North West Gambling Service, part of the Northern Gambling Service.

The NHS Northern Gambling Service is a Regional Service for people with gambling disorder and co-morbid distress. It has clinics in the North West (Manchester, Liverpool and Blackpool) and Yorkshire and Humber and the North East (Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle). The post holder will work across our North West geographical footprint and can be based at either our Manchester, Liverpool and Blackpool clinic.

The plan is for it to form part of a network of NHS clinics nationally. The service is led by a Psychologist and the core programme for service users and carers is psychological therapy in a group and/or individual format. The multi-disciplinary team is made up of psychology, psychiatry, & mental health nurses. The post holder will be based in our North West clinics and there is the expectation of some travel.

The aim of the service is to provide a therapeutically safe environment within which a person can work with the specialist multi-disciplinary team, to understand the nature of their gambling disorder and associated mental health co-morbidities and to develop a personalised care pathway to enable them to address their gambling behaviour. The post holder will be expected to provide initial assessments, risk management, and manualised psychosocial intervention for those with the disorder. This will be a mix of group and one to one intervention, based on motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioural therapy. Training and supervision will be provided, but experience of working with people with addiction problems and using a psychosocial approach is an advantage. The postholder benefits from the support of the MDT, which includes a Consultant Psychologist, a Consultant Psychiatrist, a Psychologist, specialist addiction nurses, and an assistant psychologist.

This position is based in the North West, but hosted by The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. As a teaching trust with strong links to local universities, we are a centre of excellence for teaching, research and development.

There are many benefits of working for LYPFT including fantastic employee wellbeing support, 27 - 33 days annual leave, flexible working and remote working arrangements, the NHS Pension Scheme (LYPFT pays 20.6% into your scheme each year), coaching, support and opportunities for career development and training and education support alongside a range of exclusive discounts and payment schemes including for cars, extra leave days and more organisations such as Blue Light Card, Health Service Discounts and NHS Discount Offers.

We also have an incredible bank department, offering variety of roles in nursing, allied health professions, healthcare support worker and administration clerical. Permanent employees are automatically added to bank. Bank-only workers can choose the hours they want to work and will have the opportunity to gain additional experience, keep skills up to date, develop new ones and earn extra money without having to commit to a permanent role.

**In summary the postholder’s day to day role will involve**:

- Initial comprehensive assessments
- Motivational interviewing
- Delivering manualised cognitive behavioural group interventions with a co-facilitator
- Delivering one to one manualised cognitive behavioural interventions
- Meeting with the service user and their significant others to offer a network-based intervention
- Delivering a manualised intervention for carers
- Attending and working within an MDT
- Liaising with other professionals
