**Job description**

**Main duties and responsibilities**:

- Implement and deliver math and English sessions to unemployed adults ranging from Entry level 1 to Level 2.
- Develop and deliver engaging and effective learning materials.
- Deliver criteria on accredited courses in line with awarding body.
- Ensure that support systems are provided to facilitate positive retention, achievement and progression.
- Monitor attendance and performance of the learners on an ongoing basis and effectively report to management.
- Ensure individual learning plans and progress reviews are completed appropriate to individual learner requirements, including the setting of smart targets.
- Reflect, adapt and develop practice to best meet diverse needs of learners.
- Monitor and support the overall progress and development of learners with creative and innovative strategies for their learning.
- Tailoring and adapting delivery approach, to maximise learner engagement, learning and development.
- Provide all learners with ongoing information, advice and guidance.
- Carry out regular assessment of learners in line with awarding body.
- Supporting and monitoring learner progression through the programme, accurately capturing relevant data, quality assuring delivery.
- Produce group profiles to plan effective differentiation.
- To share and support Uplift’s ethos to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
- To assist in the development of appropriate schemes of work towards selected math and English courses. To develop teaching resources, schemes of work, marking policies and teaching strategies in the curriculum area.

Complete all paperwork in line with contractual requirements, where appropriate, to meet all targets and deadlines

**Planning**
- To contribute to the Uplift’s development plan and its implementation
- To ensure documentation and practice in relation to Health and Safety is in place and adhered to. To assist in the process of curriculum development in math and English to ensure the continued relevance to the needs of learners, examining and awarding bodies and Uplift’s ethos.
- Liaison with Admin/Support staff to update records and inform of progression
- To ensure that the equipment is in good working order and suitable for teaching use.

**General Duties**
- Participate in relevant meetings with colleagues, volunteers, and be involved in links with external agencies as part of curriculum enhancement, including extra-curricular activities and off-site visits
- Support other members of the team and learners as appropriate
- Review and record your own professional development and maintain professional standards
- Completion of funder/awarding body paperwork to a high standard
- Develop and maintain records of learner progress

**Qualifications**

**Essential**
- Minimum Level 4 (equivalent) Teaching Certificate
- Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
- Gain/hold and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

**Desirable**
- Relevant Assessing qualification (A1 Assessor Award or equivalent)

**Experience**

**Essential**
- Experience of teaching/working with unemployed adults.
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
- Good administration and organisational skills to work towards Ofsted, funder and awarding body standards.
- Ability to develop new courses and write Scheme of Work to Ofsted standards.

**Desirable**
- Good networking and development skills
