**Job Summary**

West Sussex Mind works within Pathfinder West Sussex which is an alliance of organisations working together to enable people with mental health support needs and their carers to improve their mental health and wellbeing. Within the Pathfinder Alliance WSX Mind is funded to provide services in the Downs area of West Sussex and in Littlehampton, Worthing and Adur.

The social activities team holds a caseload of service users and is responsible for support planning, organising face to face and online social, leisure, sports and creative activities based on the 5 ways to wellbeing. The team also lead on service user communications.

The team works closely with wider mental health support teams, external partners, volunteers and engages in service user involvement to ensure we offer consistent support and a positive, empowering experience.

The social activities co-ordinator is responsible for:

- Planning and coordinating the delivery of in person and online social, creative and leisure activities.
- Support and supervise a team of peer support workers and volunteers.
- Ensuring the team manage their caseload and effective support planning.
- Co-production and service user involvement.
- Developing external partnerships.
- Coordinates service user communications.

**Scope & Accountabilities**

This role supervises peer support workers, admin staff and volunteers.

**Key Tasks**
- Plan and coordinate the delivery of in person and online social, creative and leisure activities to be provided across West Sussex Mind locations.
- Forward planning and developing external partnerships to draw on a wide range of resources and expertise and to build service users confidence in moving on from West Sussex Mind.
- Coordinate service user communications, including moderation of Facebook pages, issuing regular newsletters and ensure that all activities are effectively publicised.
- Oversee recruitment and ensure development support, supervision, training and recognition of volunteers and peer support workers who deliver the service.
- Ensures service users are actively involved in the planning, running and delivery of the service.
- Ensures that there is an effective booking process for all activities.
- Ensures the team manage their caseload and support plan effectively and within the recovery model.
- Work constructively and in partnership with West Sussex Mind teams to provide a seamless pathway of care and support to people who need help. Sharing information and intelligence about need and issues with these teams as required and to work professionally and creatively with West Sussex Mind staff across services.
- Actively involved in monitoring and evaluating the service outcomes.
- To represent the service at local meetings with external partners and stakeholders, as well as within WSX Mind during organisational meetings.
- Work alongside the service manager to ensure clear communication with the staff team of organisational messages.
- Be responsible for facilitating effective team working.
- To contribute to business plan development for the service.
- Ensure that all activities are planned and delivered within West Sussex Mind policies particularly around health and safety, safeguarding of adults and children and professional boundaries and codes of conduct.
- Leads work to tackle inequalities and ensure that West Sussex Mind’s activity offer is accessible and effectively reaching all groups in local community who need our support.
- Ensures that other administrative and hospitality tasks relating to the teams work including where required cleaning are undertaken including doing this work directly where required.
- Undertakes any other tasks and duties as required as requested by senior staff and managers to meet the requirements of the service including taking responsibility for leading a group or activity when a manager or co-ordinator is not on site.
- Is aware of Health & Safety regulations, particularly related to work surroundings.
- Adheres to the Policies and Procedures of West Sussex Mind.
