**Job Description: Hostel Receptionist**

**Position Overview**:The Hostel Receptionist is a vital member of the hostel's front desk team, responsible for providing exceptional customer service to guests, handling reservations, managing check-ins and check-outs, and ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for all visitors. The receptionist serves as the first point of contact for guests and plays a crucial role in creating a positive and memorable stay for them.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Guest Check-In and Check-Out**:Greet guests as they arrive, ensuring a warm and friendly welcome.
Verify guest reservations and process check-ins efficiently.
Manage check-outs, settle payments, and provide accurate billing information.
Address guest inquiries and requests professionally and promptly.

Assist guests with making reservations, modifications, and cancellations.
Maintain an organized booking system and ensure accurate records of reservations.

**Customer Service**:Provide exceptional customer service by addressing guests' concerns, needs, and preferences.
Offer information about the hostel's facilities, nearby attractions, and local services.
Handle guest complaints or issues diplomatically, seeking solutions to ensure guest satisfaction.

**Front Desk Operations**:Maintain the front desk area in a clean, organized, and welcoming manner.
Keep track of room availability and coordinate with housekeeping to ensure rooms are ready for guests.
Manage the distribution of room keys and maintain security protocols.

**Administrative Tasks**:Assist with administrative duties, such as preparing guest invoices, managing cash transactions, and maintaining guest registration cards.
Keep records of guest interactions, inquiries, and feedback for reference and analysis.

**Collaboration and Communication**:Work closely with other departments, including housekeeping, maintenance, and management, to ensure seamless guest experiences.
Communicate important information to guests, such as hostel policies, breakfast timings, and common area rules.

**Emergency Situations**:Follow established protocols in case of emergency situations, such as fire alarms, medical incidents, or security issues.
Provide guests with clear instructions on emergency procedures and exits.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in hospitality is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English (additional languages are advantageous).
- Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Friendly demeano1 and a positive attitude.
- Problem-solving skills to address guest concerns effectively.
- Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

**Working Conditions**:
The role of a Hostel Receptionist typically involves working in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The environment may be dynamic and require the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The receptionist is expected to spend a significant amount of time standing or sitting at the front desk and interacting with guests.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 25 per week

**Salary**: £8.07-£11.71 per hour

Expected hours: 11 per week

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Glasgow: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
- Administrative experience: 1 year (preferred)

**Language**:

- English (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Driving Licence (preferred)
