We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Credit Control Team Lead to join our Credit Control Team to ensure sales are turned into cash as quickly as possible and minimise the business’ risk to bad debt.
**Job Type**: Full time, Permanent
- Monday to Friday
- 38.25 hours per week
**Key Responsibilities**
Debt Management
- Pro-active cash collection throughout the month
- Prevention of bad debt through order management and regular customer reviews
- Escalation of delinquent accounts in a timely manner to alert credit manager of risk
- Liaising with solicitors and sales staff to recover bad debts
Customer Management
- Prompt resolution of customer queries
- Management of customer database
- Advising customers/sales team on best payment options for large one-off orders
Team Management
- Creating and continually improving procedures and processes
- Development of team through training and mentoring
- Promoting excellent customer service at all times within the team
- Ensure the team act proactively in their day-to-day tasks and understand when to escalate issues
Data Analysis and Monthly Reporting
- Prepare monthly credit performance reports for management pack
- Manage month end changes to the customer database
- Set Debt Collection forecasts
- Check consolidated invoices/statements are processed
- Sort and allocate credit balances
- Update cash collections against targets weekly
- Credit all rebate deductions to nominal and record
Credit Risk
- Approve all New Account Applications - set payment terms and credit limits in line with D&B recommendations
- Quarterly review of customer credit limits
- Approve any Debit/Credit Journals and ‘Dummy Uplifts’
- Ad hoc credit limit approvals according to authority levels
- Monitor and release held orders whilst minimising risk and maximising sales
**Qualifications, Experience & Skills**:
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a credit control role in a similar size organisation.
- Experience of managing and developing a team
- Experience in a shared service environment
People Management
- Ability to recognise potential in team members and train and develop to create a team of experts
- Ability to motivate a team and act as a mentor and ambassador for the business
Quality of Work
- Able to keep up with a fast-paced work environment and meeting key deadlines with ease
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Computer literate, logical and have a methodical approach to work
- A high standard of numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail

- The ability to work in team as well as autonomously
- A willingness to work extra hours to meet deadlines and the needs of the business
Communication Skills
- Calm, level headed approach to dealing with difficult situations with customers
- Able to convey confidence, authority and persistence with all levels of staff working for the customer

- Presents information in a clear and concise manner
- Can change communication style for different types of customer and different types of situation
