**About the Role**:

- The main responsibilities of the role will include:
- Greeting and directing all patients;
- Making appointments and giving out appointment cards, where required;
- Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.;
- Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints;
- Advising patients of practice procedures;
- Registering new patients;
- Answering the telephone, promptly.
- excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner,
- ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times,
- experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations,
- confidence to work as part of a team and ability to "think on your feet";
- strong IT and administration skills,
- previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable.

In addition to the above, the post-holder will need to:

- demonstrate the ability to respond to the needs of a diverse population,
- demonstrate the ability to work in pressured situations,
- demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm, and empathy with patients,
- have excellent communication skills,
- be confident to manage a variety of tasks efficiently,
- have a good knowledge of general practice,
- have a working knowledge of SystmOne - this would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

**About Us**:
Our team consists of 2 GP partners supported by a salaried GP. We have 1 x paramedic, 2 x practice nurses and 1 x HCA. We also have a variety of support staff from our PCN consisting of social prescribers and pharmacists and we are soon to be joined by a physician associate and a health and wellbeing coach.

The clinical staff are supported by our reception team/secretary/administration clerk and practice manager. We are a SystmOne practice and hold regular clinical meetings, staff meetings and MDT meetings involving our community services.
