Assistant Gardener

Johnson's farm has a part time position for an assistant gardener to work 3 or 4 days per week on a busy small holding in the rural area of Abergele.

Up to 32 hours per week. Additional work and winter work is available for the right person.

You would be required to maintain ongoing high standards to keep our gardens, grounds, property, and outbuildings clean and tidy at all times and be responsible for the smooth running of the property.

- Have an excellent knowledge of plants and horticulture
- Be used to working without supervision using your own initiative
- Have experience of working within a physically demanding job
- Have a positive ‘can do’ attitude
- Be a good all rounder and willing to be helpful in all areas

- Complete tasks proficiently and to a high standard
- You must be able to take instruction well when carrying out any task with attention to detail

You must have experience working with heavy machinery and professional gardening tools such as: lawn mowers, strimmer’s, chain saw, power tools, ladders, scaffolding, loadall and dumper truck etc. Cleaning and maintenance of equipment is also required. There is additional work of painting of buildings, fencing and outbuildings.

**Gardening duties include**:

- Mowing lawns
- Leaf clearing
- Strimming
- Hedge cutting
- Edging and keeping borders and paths tidy
- Pruning shrubs, bushes and trees
- Weeding
- Animal paddock maintenance
- Footpath maintenance
- Ground drains
- Ground clearing etc

**Additional duties include**:

- Clearing gutters
- Window cleaning
- Vehicle washing
- Painting of property, outbuildings, and fencing
- Overseeing various projects
