We are seeking a Senior Research Fellow with outstanding economic skills and analytical ability.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead Chatham House's trade-focussed research, convening and partnerships under the Global Trade Policy Forum and to conduct independent analysis and research on the global implications of recent developments in economic security, financial sanctions, and industrial policies.

You will translate this work into timely policy insights for experts and decision-makers around the world, and interact with the Institute’s broader international affairs output.

- Monitor and evaluate project impact and ensure that target audiences are aware and engaged;
- Undertake speaking engagements including private briefings, moderate public panels and round table discussions.

**People**
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships internally and externally to develop innovative research methods, capture cross-institute synergies and maximise research impact;
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop funding leads and partnerships, identify and secure relevant project resources;
- Maintain funding relationships and build new ones.
- Establish and maintain networks and links with key individuals and institutions working on the programme’s focus areas.

**Strategy**
- Develop, design, fund and deliver new policy research projects and related activities that contribute to the Programme’s and Institute’s strategy;
- Successfully plan and deliver projects by defining objectives and outputs, setting and meeting timelines and overseeing budget management (including for research, events and publications);
- Develop high quality meeting agendas and well-focussed speaker and attendee lists.

**Requirements**:
**Experience**
- Extensive experience working on and researching issues connected to the global economy and finance, including on international trade and investment, either in an academic, business, or public policy context;
- Recognised as an established authority on one or more particular research topics, as demonstrated through high quality publications, or policy influencing and impact;
- A demonstrated ability to deliver a portfolio of high-quality research projects on time and make good judgements on project management;
- Extensive experience in researching and writing economic thought pieces and policy recommendations for diverse audiences (including ideally experience with external publishers);
- People management experience, including team building, staff support and staff development;
- A track record of successfully raising funds for research/projects and engaging with potential donors is desirable;
- Experience in public policy, business or academia or equivalent.

**Skills**
- Advanced economic analytical and quantitative skills;
- Extensive research skills and knowledge with policy applicability;
- The ability to write clearly and concisely for a variety of audiences, presenting complex information and arguments persuasively;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to build positive relationships;
- Organisational skills and a keen eye for detail, with an ability to multi-task effectively on numerous projects and take initiative;
- A team ethos, collaborative and interested in developing colleagues’ skills and actively driving innovation.
