**About Kingswood Neighbourhood Centre**
Kingswood Neighbourhood Centre is run by Linwood Community Cooperative Ltd, a well
- established charity which has been in operation for over 20 years. Linwood CC oversees the running of two community centres in the town of Corby one of which is Kingswood Neighbourhood Centre.
All the directors of Linwood CC either live on the Kingswood Estate or have worked in the area for many years. All members have a good knowledge and understanding of the community.
**Key Purpose**:
- To engage with the young people on the Kingswood estate and initiate, develop and maintain relationships with them and residents across the estate.
- To support young people to make a transition to adulthood by enabling and encouraging young people to take an active part in their own self-development.
- To support the work of the new Kingswood Urban Development Project by leading on youth engagement activities and events as directed by the Project Steering Group.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- To help reduce levels of anti-social behaviour by conducting outreach work to build trust and develop good relationships with young people and provide wraparound support.
- To provide advice and support by signposting young people to specialist services for health and education and training interventions.
- Informally educate by providing tailor made sessions on the issues of drugs, alcohol and gang culture providing a better understanding of the effects.
- Conduct weekly youth engagement walk abouts on the Kingswood estate
- To establish and lead a Kingswood Youth Steering Group and co-create a Youth Engagement Plan and lead its implementation.
- To initiate and lead on organising youth engagement / consultation events through the year
- To recruit, deploy and supervise the volunteer community champions to support the youth engagement work
- To assist in the planning and organisation of the urban sports activities and regular coaching sessions at the Kingswood Neighbourhood Centre
- To conduct regular engagement sessions with Kingswood Primary and Kingswood Secondary School
- To work the Northamptonshire Sport Place Lead and a range of delivery partners to increase awareness, improve access, build capacity and provide more opportunities for young people to access physical activity, sport, volunteering and training opportunities.
- To facilitate good working partnerships between statutory and non-statutory organisations and community led organisations to ensure efficient use of resources and a coordinated approach in developing youth activities on the estate.
- To access external funding sources and resources to support the work of the project
- To collate weekly data, record any incidents and submit monitoring and evaluation information to monitor progress and demonstrate impact.
- To attend team meetings and team training sessions as required
- To increase awareness of opportunities available at Kingswood through word of mouth and effectively utilising a range of social media networks
- To ensure that the Linwood Community Cooperative policies, procedures, minimum operating standards and guidelines are met and adhered to.
- To ensure that reasonable care is taken at all times for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and other persons, and to comply with policies and procedures relating to health and safety and safeguarding.
- Demonstrate awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s behavioural, physical, social and welfare needs.
- To carry out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope and purpose of this job description.

**Education, Training, Experience and Qualifications**:
- A good knowledge and understanding of youth and community engagement / development (E)
- Experience of developing relationships and working in partnership with a range of community organisations (E)
- A higher education qualification relevant to youth work / community development or some level of practical experience in youth work / community development (E)
- Commitment to undertaking further training and personal development (E)
**Skills and Abilities**
- Proficient in planning and organising work by establishing clear tasks and priorities, taking into account potential changes and proposing mitigation plans (E)
- Ability to communicate concisely and clearly with young people and partners (E)
