As Receptionist in the Emergency Department, you'll be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, and will take charge of collecting patient information, processing paperwork, whilst providing a friendly and welcoming service to all.

You'll provide administrative support to facilitate the patient's progress through the hospital system and help maintain the most up to date patient records.

As well as general reception duties, the role has many different parts to it and will include supporting clinical members of staff within ED. No two days are the same

Please note that this position will entail working a variety of shifts which will involve nights, early starts, evening and weekends, so a reliable and flexible approach is required. Flexibility to work additional shifts as and when required would be advantageous.

10. The postholder will be required to book transport home under the direction of the doctor or nurse in charge of the patient or by the nurse-in-charge. The postholder is required to keep the nurse-in-charge informed of all transport booking arrangements made.
12. Communicate with all levels of hospital staff, outside agencies and members of the public in a professional and effective manner.
13. The post holder will ensure hospital notes are acquired when requested for patients attending ED.
14. To carry out specific clerical and administrative duties as requested by clinical staff and line managers.
15. To assist in the care of clients as requested e.g. escort patients to areas within the dept if appropriate.
16. To follow procedures for the registration of patients.
17. To ensure all patient data items are accurately recorded and updated taking into account national and local minimum data requirements.
18. To operate office and computing equipment, keep it in good order and report faults to appropriate person.
