**How you'll make a difference**:

We are currently looking for enthusiastic and experienced individuals who can act as Chair and Vice Chair of the Fostering Panel as and when needed.

In the role of Chair, you will receive £600 per panel and in the role of Vice Chair, you will receive £200 per panel. Vice Chair will receive £600 when acting as Chair.

We are currently operating in a hybrid way, where some panels are held face to face and some virtual via MS Teams.

**What will you be doing?**
- It will be your responsibility as Chair to ensure that all items of business are covered and that the panel operates in accordance with regulations, policy, and procedures.
- You will prepare for panel meetings by reading panel papers carefully, identifying key issues and ensuring that the case is adequate for submission to panel.
- By facilitating the meetings, you will ensure that all panel members actively consider all aspects of the cases and make clear and well-evidenced recommendations.
- You will ensure that clear and accurate minutes are written and you will be involved in checking and agreeing draft minutes with other panel members before they are sent to the decision-maker.
- In the role of Vice Chair, it will be your responsibility to deputise for the Panel Chair in their absence and carry out all the functions of the Chair’s role.

**What we need from you**:

- You will hold a relevant professional qualification, degree, or equivalent qualification, or have substantial experience either of being a member of a Fostering Panel/Vice Chair or of working with placing children in foster families and/or working with children being cared for away from their birth family.
- In this role, you will need to have knowledge and experience of reading complex reports/assessments, chairing meetings, and ensuring members participation.
- You will have a good understanding of looked after children and statutory requirements together with a passion for improving their outcomes.
- You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
