We are looking to recruit a full-time Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to work within our Personality Disorder Service.

The service is a NICE compliant specialist outpatient service which operates across all four localities within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust, Cambridge, Huntingdon, Fenland and Peterborough. The service has undergone an innovative redesign and is embarking on an exciting phase of delivering a high-quality service which strives for excellence for its service users.

There are a variety of areas within the team that would give valuable experience. We have varied treatment pathways from short term management of risk presentations, moderate term group treatment pathways and longer-term caseloads, including CAMH transitions, 117 cases and care package management. There are a wide range of weekly work plans from working in the duty team, facilitating groups, case load management, along with taking part in group reflection and supervision, training and education.

Clinicians are expected to work in a variety of ways including the use of dialectical behaviour therapy, mentalisation based treatment and cognitive analytic therapy principles to engage and manage severely unwell patients with personality disorders. The service uses a range of different interventions, which include individual and group therapy.

Experience of facilitating group work in a mental health or social care setting would be an advantage, along with experience of working on a 1:1 basis with service users. This may be pre
- or post-training or relevant clinical placements.

- To work with service users to provide recovery focused interventions through ongoing support, practical assistance and problem resolution under the supervision of a senior team member. To contribute to the regular reviews of service users in the team.
- To participate within the multi-disciplinary professional team in the relevant Pathway/protocols to deliver safe person-centred care focussing on collaborative therapeutic relationships. This will include social inclusion work including employment.
- To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in the Personality Disorder Pathway, assisting in the provision of assessment, treatment and management for service users with a personality disorder, under the supervision of the Team Leader
- Clinicians are expected to work in a variety of ways including the use of dialectical behaviour therapy, mentalisation based treatment and cognitive analytic therapy principles to engage and manage severely unwell patients with personality disorders. The service uses a range of different interventions, which include individual and group therapy.
- To support service users with their recovery journeys through collaborative goal setting with a range of priority health and social needs under the supervision of a senior member of the team.
- To provide ongoing specialist assessments of adult service users referred to, and under the care of the Personality Disorder Pathway.
- To develop formulations of presenting problems or situations that integrate information from assessments alongside other team members.
- To develop and implement plans for treatment, therapeutic intervention and/or management of a client’s presentation. This done in partnership with the team. The treatment will normally fall within the broad remit of cognitive analytic therapies, but where appropriate other therapeutic approaches with proven efficacy may be offered.
- To communicate, in a highly skilled and sensitive manner, to service users, family/ carers and others as appropriate, information that may be contentious or highly distressing concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of services under their care.
- To undertake assessments of individuals and their families, including those service users presenting with higher levels of risk. To develop alongside the service user their care plan.
