**Job summary**:
His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde (HMNB Clyde) is home to the United Kingdom’s Strategic Nuclear Deterrent, Astute Class Attack Submarines, Sandown Class Mine Hunter Vessels and 43 Cdo Royal Marines. It is an operational support and maintenance base, within the Navy Command TLB and comprises both Faslane and Coulport sites. HMNB Clyde’s primary purpose is to provide engineering and logístical support to the Royal Navy in maintaining Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD). This is achieved by ensuring at least one Vanguard Class submarine is on patrol at sea every day of the year.

HMNB Clyde will be the single operational home of the Submarine Service and will become the United Kingdom’s Submarine Centre of Excellence. Creating this single integrated operating base is to ensure that the Royal Navy can deliver its operational commitments across all Defence Lines of Development from Scotland on an enduring basis.

To support this transition and future operations, HMNB Clyde is undergoing a high value programme of infrastructure development (>£1Bn over the next decade.) The Project Delivery Sponsor role is part of a small Navy Command team supporting delivery of the Clyde Infrastructure Programme and Major Projects Programme delivering the infrastructure solutions to develop HMNB Clyde as the Submarine Centre of Specialisation.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
Project Delivery Sponsors 1.1.1 and 1.2.1 are responsible to Project Delivery Sponsor 1.1 and 1.2 respectfully and to Assistant Head of Infrastructure 1, for the management and delivery of allocated infrastructure programmes and projects in accordance with Nuclear Authorisation Conditions (ACs) at HMNB Clyde. Delivery Sponsors are the NBC Clyde interface and intelligent customer for allocated projects supporting the management and integration of the infrastructure delivery and collaborative engagement with all HMNB Clyde’s infrastructure delivery partners (including DIO and their Industry Partners).

The post requires confident leadership skills and the ability to build and maintain an extensive network of stakeholders where collaboration is key to the success of delivering within an operational and regulated environment. The post holder must have the management skills to ensure that the Naval Base receives the required outcome from the programme of work aligned with the operational programme and that project arrangements are appropriate; compliant with site ACs and that risk is demonstrably As Low As Reasonably Practicable.

**Person specification**:
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria:

- The ability to build relationships at all levels across the Naval Base to promote and deliver the Infrastructure Programme.
- Promoting a strong safety and security culture
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to prepare reports and communications.
- Demonstrable experience of planning and organising a programme of events in an operational environment.
- The ability to both lead and work within multi-disciplinary teams to delivery agreed outcomes.

The successful applicant may also be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

- Experience of working within a Licenced, Authorised or Regulatory environment.
- An understanding of MOD Nuclear Safety & Security Culture
