**What will you be doing?**
- Identify waste, source and organise recycling or disposal routes, manage waste movements, ensure waste invoices and invoice packs are correct, and obtain technical approvals.
- Produce quotes for waste identifying robust, highest waste hierarchy options and environmental carbon footprint reduction.
- Identify, promote, lead and implement waste reduction and hierarchy improvements.
- Identify and deliver saving opportunities to ensure that the contract meets or is under the Client’s budget expectations
- Ensure that waste service performance is against agreed SLAs and KPI reporting on waste spend and waste movements/disposal for the purpose of environmental reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of the contract budget and Capex budget
- Waste forecasting and trending against the forecasts.
- Use data trends to identify and deliver improvement opportunities.
- Own and drive innovation plans with appropriate actions delivered on time.
- Participate in the selection, recruitment and appointment of staff and take an active role in discussions and negotiations with trade unions and or site appointed employee representatives.
- Identify the training needs of the contract employees and further develop and implement training programmes that ensure they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their tasks with proper regard to the law and SHE rules and Regulations.
- To liaise with the Compliance Manager during regular safety inspections and audits and to develop and implement a safety action plan based on corrective actions and recommendations arising from inspection and audit reports.
- Ensure compliance to site SOPs, Veolia procedures and contract ISO standards, permits, licences and exemptions.
- Support the Clients Waste Strategy Management Team in identifying and implementing waste innovations to reduce costs, waste volumes and or reduce environmental impact.
**What are we looking for?**
- A team player and an agile and energetic leader with the ability to capture the enthusiasm of those around you and channel it towards an end goal.
- Natural influencing and negotiation skills,
- Be able to demonstrate that they have extensive knowledge and experience in managing waste sites.
- Have an automotive industry-based background with previous experience in handling hazardous waste and third-party permitted facilities.
- Strong management and leadership skills
- Working knowledge of related HR issues and experience in training and developing contract staff and employees
- Good knowledge of current waste and environmental legislative compliance, SHE management system standards, with the ability to implement and communicate legislative updates/changes as required
- COTC, NEBOSH - desirable
- SHE KPI target capablilties
