London, United Kingdom Morgan Hunt Full time

**Mental Health Triage Worker**

**Location: Hybrid working 2-3 days in the Brixton office, 2-3 days working from home**

**Assignment: 6 months**

**Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00, 37.5 hours a week**

**Pay: 13 - 16 per hour**

Our prestigious social care client is on the lookout for someone with a passion and thorough understanding of mental health. The public's mental health is at the top of the social agenda, with many suffering over the last couple of years, we now need people with mental health support backgrounds to come to the forefront and support the many people out there who need it.

This fantastic role gives you the opportunity to help those who are suffering find the right support that they need. As mental Health triage worker you will be supporting clients based in Lambeth, speaking with them over the phone assessing their mental health through thorough assessments with the aim of referring them to the right support network.

The clients you will be supporting are individuals who suffer from varying degrees of mental health. Mostly anxiety, stress, paranoia, and others of similar examples but in some cases, there will be times where you speak to clients who are of high risk. As mental health triage worker you must be able to recognise the indicators and conclude with certainty, what support they require, then informing them where they can get that support from

The role:
You will be carrying out triages, writing up the notes and referring to the appropriate network. So, you will need to look at the commission's initial assessment - which is the first contact who referred them to you. It is not as thorough but is normally correct - obviously, the triage is a far more thorough and conclusive analysis on the client so bear the initial info in mind but ultimately as the mental health triage worker you will need to make your own conclusion.

The triage has a set number of questions (5). You will determine from this where they need to be referred and what type of support they need, you may even need to google support agencies available to the client's individual circumstances so you need to be able to think on your feet and be proactive but there is also a list of agencies that you can signpost to that the service already uses.

You do not hold caseloads in this role, it is thorough, efficient assessments. You must be a good listener, being able to take out info which you need to refer them to the necessary support networks
- Have a good standard of both written and typed communication, the role is quite admin heavy as the write ups are detailed
- Be able to write up your notes efficiently and pick up the pace of the role quickly
- Have excellent time management, and organisation skills. You need to be strict with your time, spending 20-30 mins max with people on the phone to hit your target of a minimum of 4 triages per day
- Be able to work from an excel sheet, this is where you pick up the referrals from, everything is recorded there, including notes, triage appointments, initial assessments, and client information
- Possess high a good standard of IT skills as you will be working across two systems
- Be able to work to targets
- Be able to recognise risk This is crucial, risk is what this service is all about so you will need a strong background in carrying out needs and risks assessments to be successful in this role
- Be able to use and access Microsoft teams as this is where meetings will take place and the induction will be conducted. It is how interviews will be conducted
- Be able to use your initiative and learn fast. Due to the role now being based partly at home, there is not as much support as there was when the role was office based but you will still receive a thorough induction and can call any of the
- Be able to go into the office in Brixton to cover the admin team, if two or more of the administrators are off at one time, our social care client has said this is unlikely to occur

It would be great if you have any knowledge on the following, but it is not essential:

- Have experience using EPJS system - electronic patient journey system
- Possessing your own laptop would be the preference as this would mean you can start the induction process straight away whilst waiting for the work laptop and mobile to arrive
