Speech & Language Therapist - Band 5 or 6

Dunfermline, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time

Are you a band 5 or band 6 Speech and Language Therapist keen to work with adults with acquired disorders? Fife Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Service has an exciting opportunity for you to join our forward thinking team based at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline.

You will bring enthusiasm, knowledge and experience (undergraduate or postgraduate) of working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties. Alongside senior colleagues you will be involved in delivering the service to inpatients within Queen Margaret Hospital wards and individuals across Dunfermline and West Fife community. In addition, the remit of the post will include people with voice disorders.

A relevant postgraduate qualification and autonomy in the management of dysphagia is essential to this post at band 6. If appointed at band 5 you will undertake dysphagia training and receive support as required to become independent in management of swallowing disorders.

If you are newly qualified you will be allocated a mentor and supported to complete the RCSLT NQP Competencies Framework and to meet the criteria to progress to band 6 within 2 years post registration.

You will work with adults with acquired conditions, their families/carers and other professionals to develop and implement personal outcome focused intervention. Clinical decision making in the service is supported by Care Aims, so an understanding of this methodology would be an advantage.

You will work closely with the Clinical Lead Therapists within the wider adult acquired team to have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing development of a quality service within the tiered model of intervention. All staff members are expected to demonstrate leadership and you will have opportunities to lead within your role.

The SLT Service is professionally managed within the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership and you will be joining a dynamic service with a well developed peer facilitation / supervision model and a strong commitment to staff well-being and development.

For informal enquiries, please contact Ailie Mackay, SLT Operational Lead on 01592 226785.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
