An exciting opportunity has become available within Hywel Dda University Health Board’s Long-term Care Service. This Senior Health professional role sits within the Directorate for Primary, Community and Long-term Care and will provide professional leadership across a diverse portfolio, covering all aspects of Long-term Care and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Policy areas, including the Senior Management of the operational delivery of these areas.

The post will be required to lead on the development of Strategic Business Justification Cases around Long Term Care and the development of efficient, high quality and cost-effective service delivery. Over the last 5 years, the LTC Service has continually evolved in response to the ever-changing landscape of Long-term Care and the demands of the wider system pressures; there is a large programme of work on-going, aligned to the integration agenda with a number of exciting work streams requiring the post holder to prioritise over the coming months.

The post holder is a Senior Health professional within the Hywel Dda Local Health Board, expected to be a member of the Directorate for Commissioning/ Therapies and Health Science. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of the statutory policy and legal framework for Continuing NHS Health Care and NHS Funded Nursing Care. The post holder will develop implement and audit, regulatory procedures, providing support and professional nursing advice for independent contractors and Nursing Homes.

The post holder will act as a role model and provide professional leadership across the organisation, acting as a point of advice/expertise in professional practice and will have organisation-wide management responsibility and accountability for the professional and legal aspects, ensuring delivery for the following:
NHS Funded Nursing Care Policy and Legal Framework

Healthcare Policy and Legal Framework

Care Home Sector/Governance

Complex Long-Term Care

Nursing Home regulation

Contracting and Commissioning

Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards (Supervisory Body)

Performance

The post-holder will also lead projects, working collaboratively organisation-wide and with primary care professionals, health and social care teams, where applicable in the innovation and development of clinical practice and service improvement.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
**Four main hospitals**: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
**Seven community hospitals**: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
