We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Healthcare Assistant to work on Okeover Ward at St Oswald's Hospital.

St Oswald's Hospital is a Community Hospital in Ashbourne Centre, providing excellent care for the local and wider community.

Okeover Ward is a 16-bedded inpatient ward, providing rehabilitation, complex discharge planning and end of life care.

The multi-disciplinary team is made up of nursing and allied health professionals, including Registered Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants and Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

The clinical team is supported by the local GP practices, Administrative Staff, Porters, Hotel Services and Housekeepers.

We are looking for someone who will work collaboratively with the whole team and support the ward to continually strive for the best patient experience possible. Okeover Ward offers the opportunity for Healthcare Assistants to develop clinical skills that contribute to safe and effective patient care.

It is important that you have a good standard of English and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including strict adherence to patient confidentiality.

Okeover Ward provides a 24 hour, 7 day a week service; this post involves shift work that includes, days and nights, weekends and Bank Holidays.

As Healthcare Assistant, your primary duty will be to support Registered Nurses and the multidisciplinary team in the delivery of person-centred patient care.

Wider duties on the ward include maintaining the ward environment, assisting with audit and accreditation, attendance at team meetings, and adherence to trust policies and procedures.

The role of the Healthcare Assistant is integral to the provision of high standard person centred patient care.

You will work alongside the Registered Nurses and multi-disciplinary team to deliver individualised care to a client group with wide ranging clinical needs.

Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will maintain effective and collaborative channels of communication with your colleagues and take into account the needs and feelings of others.

You will ensure that correct procedures and treatment are carried out as prescribed by the Registered Nurses to ensure the comfort and safety of patients, and report any concerns about patients to the Registered Nurses.

You will be required adhere to strict patient confidentiality.

You will complete accurate records about the care you have delivered to patients and work within information governance policies and procedures.

Training will be provided for the role and you will have an annual appraisal to review your practice and plan your development needs.
