As a Family Support Worker you will play an invaluable role in the work of Hampshire Children's Services, working directly with young people and families. Your intervention could make all the difference in ensuring family relations and school attendance are improved. Your role will be focussed on the delivery of Evidence Based Programmes to support parenting and our local priority groups.You will be part of a larger multi-disciplinary hub, working alongside both social workers and specialist workers, who act collaboratively with each other and the family in order to deliver a whole family approach.Please note as you will be working with families across a geographical area, you must be able to meet the travel requirements of the role. Generally, this means that you will require a full driving licence and access to a car, but reasonable adjustments to this requirement will be considered to cater for a declared disability.-
What does a typical day look like?As a Family Support Worker, your responsibilities will include;- Recruiting parents for parenting support groups
- Delivering accredited parenting programmes through group work.
- Covering the duty / consultation line on a rota basis.
- Maintaining relevant databases with up-to-date information and accurately recording the outcomes of group work.
- Obtaining feedback from parents about the outcomes of group work
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team around the family.
- Reporting back to the team manager and discuss, in supervision, the successes and progress of specific tasks/activities set out for completion within the overall plan.
- Understanding and working within corporate and statutory frameworks, such as anti-discriminatory practice, health and safety, and sustainability. And demonstrating commitment to them in daily working practice, ensuring that any issues are challenged appropriately.
- Ensuring that all Hampshire County Council child protection policies are adhered to and concerns are raised in accordance with these policies.
