HF’s costs department, led ambitiously by Paul McCarthy, is a recognised market leader in legal costs. Known as experts in their field, the department has extensive experience handling all types of costs work from fixed through to multi-million pound disputes. We act for both receiving and paying parties across the commercial and civil litigation landscape. What do I need?

You will be an individual assured in dealing with costs recovery and/or adverse costs on behalf of your clients with previous litigation experience. You won’t be afraid to question and challenge information and evidence put forward by the other parties in your case, you’ll be quick to form a measured response which highlights your excellent communication skills.

Depending on your skills and own career goals we have a number of key areas of focus including costs management, fixed costs, paying party and receiving party costs work. This is great opportunity for your to grow your experience in a varied mix of work including:
- **Costs Management**: drafting budgets, and challenging opponents’ budgets, subsequent negotiations and attending CCMCs where appropriate.

**Fixed Costs**: considering and challenging claims for fixed costs and associated disbursements to include handling negotiations, drafting Points of Dispute and managing Part 8 proceedings

**Paying party**: negotiating settlement of third party costs claims, drafting Points of Dispute and managing procedural issues as appropriate.

**Receiving party**: drafting N260’s and bills of costs (to include E-bills), handling negotiations, drafting Replies and managing procedural issues as appropriate.
