**Job summary**:
The CMA is the UK’s world-leading government body established to make sure competition works in consumers’ favour and businesses treat their customers fairly. Be it taking enforcement action against drug firms accused of overcharging the NHS, investigating concerns about hotel booking websites’ practices, or conducting major studies into whether vulnerable consumers are being ripped off by certain industries, what we do really matters.

As a world-leading competition and consumer agency working in the interests of business, the economy and general public, it is important that we communicate our vital work clearly and effectively throughout the UK. The Strategy, Communications and Advocacy Directorate works at the heart of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and plays a vital role in ensuring that our work is communicated to external audiences.

**Job description**:
As **Digital Officer**, you will play a key role in the CMA's digital work and communications, offering guidance and strategies on how we can engage our target audiences effectively. You will contribute to the creation and output of digital and document content for GOV.UK, producing guidance, blogs or case updates that are engaging, clear and fully accessible.

Not only will you assist in the creation of content, but you will also advise on how it would be best shared with our users. You will draft and deliver digital communications plans, utilising a range of innovative ideas to help communicate our work. You will be creative in your approach, drafting posts, taking photos and videos to assist in the delivery of these plans.

You will be user orientated when considering the approach of the CMA's digital content, taking an active role in the regular review and evaluation of our media, ensuring that it meets our audiences' needs and remains accessible to all.

You will possess knowledge of digital communications and content design, including experience of drafting written content from scratch. Your previous work will demonstrate a sensitivity to user needs and feedback. You will also provide experience of developing creative plans for social media, utilising mediums such as video, design and other engaging tools.

The ability to engage with internal stakeholders at all levels is important, communicating to them the best digital channels to reach target audiences.

The CMA prides itself on being a great place to work and strives to ensure that staff have the opportunity to grow and expand their skills portfolio. As well as being a hugely rewarding, diverse and stimulating place to work, you will have an opportunity to work for the public good whilst stretching and developing yourself in doing so.

**Person specification**:
Your detailed responsibilities will include:

- Draft content for GOV.UK (including guidance, blogs, or case updates) that is engaging, fully accessible and clear, and advise on how it should be shared with our users.
- Draft and deliver creative digital communications plans that use a range of engaging content and ideas to help communicate our work (including drafting posts, taking photos and videos and other content).
- Take an active role in the regular review and evaluation of the CMA’s digital content, ensuring users’ needs are met and our content is accessible.
- Advise colleagues across the CMA on appropriate digital approaches, in line with our content design and publishing standards.
- Oversee the regular monitoring, evaluation and analysis of CMA digital communications plans, providing insight and opportunities to improve.
- Act as content designer for a variety of digital and document content, including:

- reviewing existing copy and suggesting improvements;
- creating new content on GOV.UK;
- ensuring we meet the required accessibility standards
- Work closely with other colleagues in the wider Strategy Communications and Advocacy directorate to ensure the delivery of the CMA’s communications plan.
- Publish market-sensitive content out of hours where required.
- Any other reasonable duties
