**Senior Electrical Engineer**

**Salary £55k DOE**

**Based in Dover**

Job Purpose:
As Senior Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for managing, improving and developing the electrical networks in the Port and you will act as Electrical Authority for the Port’s electrical networks. Holding internal refresher training and ensuringthat required management procedures are in place are part of the role. You will also be working on projects as 'Project Engineer’ and/or Project Manager for design and works to our electrical networks and for other electrically operated assets such as linkspans, pumping stations and building services systems. This role may also include line management of electrical and mechanical engineers and technicians.

Duties of the Post Holder

Manage, improve and develop the Port’s electrical networks to meet current and future demand and Regulations

Undertake the role of 'Electrical Authority’ for the Port’s electrical networks

Hold internal refresher training for colleagues who operate and manage the electrical networks

Undertake the role of Project Engineer and/or Project Manager for projects on the Port’s electrical assets

Undertake the role of Project Manager or Client for works and service contracts under the NEC suite of contracts.

Take the engineering lead in identifying and implementing initiatives on the Port’s journey towards 'Net Zero’ green-house gas emissions.

Prepare engineering maintenance and development strategies for electrical assets and to ensure that such strategies are turned into high level implementation plans using our Long Term Asset Plan

Prepare designs, contract documents, specifications, drawings, risk and environmental assessments for the execution of electrical engineering and other port related works which are to be carried out by contract or by the in-house maintenance delivery team.

To produce feasibility studies and technical reports for both technical and non-technical audiences and as required.

Assess Access and Use requests by tenants and third parties for planned electrical works

Generic Duties

Any other duties assigned by the manager or supervisor from time to time. Such duties will be reasonable in relation to the jobholder’s skills, abilities and status.

If required undertake the role of On-Call Technical emergency support (Technical Silver).

To comply with environmental instructions and to identify potential risks to the environment, or areas where environmental impact can be reduced.

To identify and manage risks, particularly those which affect safety, and to ensure that all tasks under your control are performed with the utmost regard for health and safety. To facilitate effect communication on risk and safety issues between the teamand senior management

The Ideal Fit Our Operation (Knowledge & Experience)

BSc Electrical Engineering and Incorporate or Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) or equivalent.

Knowledge and experience of Electrical Regulations

A proven track record of: 1) electrical engineering design and thorough understanding of the LV and HV design process. 2) responsibility for the delivery phase of HV and LV electrical engineering projects. 3) the project management of electrical engineeringprojects. 4) Electro Mechanical Plant and Machinery, BMS, and SCADA control systems.

Have acted as Senior Authorised Person and/or Authorised Person for LV and HV electrical works

Good user skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel

Demonstrable experience of managing Contracts, preferably use the NEC Engineering and Construction Contracts.

Demonstrable experience of the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015

Must hold a valid driving license and use of own vehicle Our Business (Practical Application) or (Management Principals) or (Leadership Attributes)

A thorough understanding of Procurement of both services and construction works and a practical experience of undertaking of the 'Client’s role’ under such contracts

Ensure contract administration, risk and environmental assessments and written progress reports are completed to time and of quality

Take responsibility for delivery of own and accountability of direct reports delivery of expected outcomes to time, cost and quality standards of maintenance

Ensure contractors understand the required customer outcomes and the impact of poor service and communication during delivery on their reputation and that the Engineering Department

Review Access and Use Requests from Port Tenants and third parties for modifications to their installations on the Port Estate.

Proven track record leading a team, setting objectives, undertaking performance reviews, creating training plans and providing support and advice. Our Team (People & Behavioural Skills)

Committed and enthusiastic, with a flexible approach, able to respond to pressure, consistently deliver to time with a professional and consistent attitude

Proven track record of successfully managing people to deliver maintenance work

High standard of communication skills both verbal and written. Has a pro-active approach, able to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
