You will be based in Wincanton, Somerset in a purpose-built modern premises with offices, servicing and distribution managed from this site. You will be joining a growing business that is looking for an additional member to the finance team who is able to work with customers in varying size from small independent retailers to larger multinational accounts.

**The Role**

As Finance Assistant you will be assisting the Finance Manager to ensure effective running of the finance function of the business. You will be responsible for several accounting functions and will require some experience of working in a similar role. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
**Purchase Ledger**:

- Matching invoices to goods receipt notes ensuring accuracy in posting to the supplier accounts
- Identify discrepancies during the matching routine, liaising with internal and external department to resolve issues with stock deliveries and pricing
- Process non purchase order related invoices direct to the ledger ensuring appropriate authorisation procedures are always adhered to
- Liaise with suppliers to provide resolutions to queries
- Reconciling supplier statements
- Posting all bank transactions
- Preparation of weekly supplier payments

**Credit Control**:

- Timely and effective collection of all debts in line with the company policy
- Review aged debt reports regularly and report to the relevant departments
- Help resolve any invoice queries for customers
- Open new accounts in line with the company policy

**General Duties**:

- Answering the telephone in a professional and friendly manner
- Helping to ensure all month end deadlines are met
- Learning all aspects of the accounts department to be able to give competent holiday cover
- Ad hoc duties when required including assisting in audit preparation and yearly stock takes
