Edinburgh, United Kingdom Continuum Industries Full time

Continuum Industries is on a mission to help the world accelerate the transition to a more sustainable future using Artificial Intelligence. We have developed Optioneer, an AI-powered tool that helps plan new infrastructure projects much faster, more sustainably and with lower risk. Since launch, we have supported over 40,000 km of new linear infrastructure; underground and subsea power cables, overhead transmission lines, hydrogen, and water pipelines. Optioneer is already used by enterprise infrastructure organisations such as; National Grid, BP, RWE, SSEN Transmission, Iberdrola and National Gas Transmission in the US, UK and Europe.

As a Product Designer at Continuum Industries, you will work closely with our product managers and engineering teams. You will design for technical use cases, ensuring that our tool is not only functional but also intuitive and accessible for all users.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- ** Collaborate**: Engage in a highly collaborative design process with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders, embodying the principle that great products are built through a shared vision and diverse perspectives
- ** User-centred Design**: Leverage user research, design heuristics, and usability standards to guide your design decisions, advocating for user needs while balancing business objectives
- ** Simplify Complexity**: Take on the challenge of designing for complex systems, making them understandable and usable for a broad audience without sacrificing depth and functionality
- ** Iterative Development**: Embrace an iterative design process, incorporating feedback from cross-functional team members and users to refine and evolve design solutions.

**You'll bring**:

- ** User Empathy**: You’re always thinking about how the user will interact with what you’re creating and strive to design/build based on core principles and trade-offs rather than trends
- ** Holistic Design**: You think about the Interface in terms of workflows rather than isolated components
- ** Collaborative Mentality**: It’s your default setting (and ours), our belief is we achieve more when we work together
- ** Inclusive thinking**: You consider multiple user groups and accessibility when creating designs
- ** Communication**: You're comfortable operating across multiple work streams simultaneously, collaborating with technical/non-technical teams. You’ll know how valuable good communication is to delivering projects effectively and will default to seeking clarity rather than assuming knowledge
- ** Technical Knowledge**: You’ve used multiple design tools/platforms, especially Figma and are familiar with material design principles.
- ** Velocity**: You’re adaptable, can pivot focus quickly and understand the need to deliver functional product over total perfection.

**Bonus points for**:

- ** Technical Knowledge**: Familiarity with mapping and GIS Software
- ** Design Systems**: Experience designing, incorporating or working with Design systems
- ** Technical Audiences**: Experience designing software for technical audiences especially those within Civil Engineering
- ** User Breadth**: Experience building enterprise SaaS for varied user personas.

**What you'll get**:

- 💸 £50,000 - £60,000 base salary + equity
- 🌎 Ownership: You’ll own a piece of our company through our share option scheme 🤸‍
-️ Flexible working environment & hours: We're outcome-focused
- 🏖 Annual vacation entitlement: 34 days including local holidays
- 💻 Technology: A brand new Macbook (and work-from-home budget)
- 🎓 Extensive upskilling opportunities: One dedicated learning day each month + learning budget
- 🌲 An opportunity to help us accelerate the world’s transition to net zero, and rewire the world with cleaner, green energy.

**Our interview process**:

- 30min conversation with our Talent Acquisition team to get to know you better and vice versa
- 60min interview & portfolio review with the Hiring Manager and UI/UX Lead
- Circa 90mins final interviews involving both practical and behavioural aspects + 30mins Executive interview with our CEO
- Decision 🤝
