The Recovery Strategy Unit (RSU) is a new unit at the heart of Safer Green Building’s ambition. It is tasked with pursuing individuals and companies who are failing to make buildings safe and pay to fix the building safety issues they caused. This is a high profile area of work, which has rightly received considerable Parliamentary and press attention. A quick google search will reveal the types of cases the Unit has taken forward.

**Job description**:
You will oversee a number of investigations and deliver outcomes around areas of key strategic importance to Secretary of State. In the first instance, your projects are likely to involve investigations arising out of the Grenfell Inquiry and ongoing work to hold firms, institutions and individuals to account. This role would be perfect for someone who thrives in fast paced and high profile environment.

You will lead of team of 3-4 Grade 7s. Each Grade 7 will be case leaders, managing investigations. Your job will be providing the strategy and oversight of the case leaders, linking cases to wider departmental objectives such as housing and leasehold reform. You should expect to critically review the cases, identify areas for further investigation, link the work to critical cross-department objectives, brief Ministers and meet with leaseholders, Parliamentarians and other key stakeholders. You will also be expected to manage the operation of the RSU, including for example on financing and budgeting, resourcing, commercial relationships with suppliers, and any value for money considerations.

You will be expected to have excellent relationship building skills, our work is highly collaborative and you’ll need to work across Whitehall, within the department, local authorities and arms length bodies. Critical thinking, demonstrated through an ability to synthesise and analyse information and to communicate findings clearly, is essential. The ability to operate in stressful situations and the willingness to put team before self are important attributes.

The responsibilities will be:

- Provide strategy and oversight of RSU cases.
- Manage the operation of the RSU on a daily basis including resourcing, financing, supplier management.
- To deliver complex ideas confidently, clearly and with precision including to senior officials and Ministers.
- Build relationships and engage with relevant contacts and collect data from a variety of credible sources. The ability to build relationships with other teams in DLUHC and across Whitehall is vital.
- To ensure fast, accurate and detailed reporting.
- To oversee well drafted briefings and correspondence to high profile stakeholders.

- Provide strategic policy and analytical direction and oversight of the RSU, ensuring work is delivered to the highest quality while maintaining a strong focus on the development of the team.
- A high level of situational and political awareness and judgement. You should have experience of briefing very senior individuals in a clear and concise manner.
