Job Description Summary

As the Head of Technical Business Partnering you'll lead a team of technical finance specialists that will be trusted advisors to GCT Businesses, reporting to the Finance Director for GCT. Using your keen eye for detail and strong technical knowledge you’ll lead a team that brings together, interprets, and analyses multiple streams of financial information. You'll use this information to resolve technical financial queries from the GCT business areas, supporting business decision-making.

Group Corporate Treasury (GCT) supports the purpose by creating and maintaining the appropriate balance sheet structure to meet our desired Capital, Funding/Liquidity and Structural Market Risk appetite whilst providing the appropriate flexibility to accommodate the Group’s Strategic plans.

The Role:
As the Head of Technical Business Partnering you'll lead a team of technical finance specialists that will be trusted advisors to GCT Businesses, reporting to the Finance Director for GCT. Using your keen eye for detail and strong technical knowledge you’ll lead a team that brings together, interprets, and analyses multiple streams of financial information. You'll use this information to resolve technical financial queries from the GCT business areas, supporting business decision-making.

The role is a Key Leadership role within GCT, requiring strong leadership skills to actively support and contribute to the delivery of the Group and GCT strategy. This includes shaping operating models, influencing important team members, and contributing to planning and business decision-making by providing insight, control and thought leadership.

Your main responsibilities will include:

- Being the trusted advisor to senior partners for all Hedge Accounting activities, controls, and practices;
- Leading the provision of technical accounting guidance, valuation expertise, valuable financial insights, and innovative solutions on ‘one-off complex transactions’, new products, and new business initiatives.
- Leading on the support of business process reviews across GCT, utilising LEAN principles.
- Collaborating with the Legal Entity Treasurer and influencing other colleagues to ensure that the entity’s capital and liquidity is managed and reported appropriately, ensuring that any regulatory reporting is consistent with their view of the financial position.

What skills are required?
- You'll be a qualified accountant with a track record gained in a broad range of senior roles in the banking and financial services industry;
- You'll have experience in treasury products, valuation techniques, technical accounting (including, but not limited to Fixed Income, xVA, Capital, Issuance, Liquid Assets, medium
- and short-term Funding, Hedging);
- The ability to develop strong working relationships and influence at senior levels internally and externally; and
- Proven leadership skills, with a track record of managing and leading successful teams; and
- Strong technical knowledge, including hedge accounting, with the ability to explain and present ‘sophisticated’ concepts in a ‘simple to understand’ form; and
- An inquisitive personality with a desire to challenge how we do things
