**The Recovery Claims Team**

The Recovery Claims Team seeks to recover money that Hiscox has paid out in the settlement of claims for our customers. We do this by pursuing claims against third parties where we identify that a third party is at fault for the loss or damage. The team manages a diverse portfolio of claimant actions including large and complex claims. We enjoy the challenge of pursuing complicated litigation and pride ourselves on our success rate.

**The role**

We are looking for an experienced solicitor or chartered legal executive to join our thriving Recovery Claims Team. You will be pursuing high value and complex claimant actions for Hiscox and our customers which primarily relate to damage caused to our customers’ properties by third parties. When third parties cause damage to our customers’ properties we adopt an assertive approach when commencing litigation against them. We would expect you to do the same.

You will review new claim referrals to consider whether there are grounds for Hiscox to pursue claims against any third parties. Where good claims are identified you will have ownership of the pursuit of those claims from start to conclusion, seeking to either agree an out of court settlement or obtain a court judgment. You will have the courage to back yourself when your legal analysis is questioned by defendants and the negotiation skills to get settlements over the line. You will deliver exceptional customer service, manage relationships and expectations with key stakeholders, including senior members of UK Claims, Underwriters, Loss Adjusters, Brokers and any other appointed experts to ensure that claims are pursued effectively.

You will also be expected to identify trends in the current claim portfolio and specific areas of opportunity for the team.

- Proactively managing a caseload of complex and high value claimant recovery claims from initial referral through to conclusion, either pursuing the claims yourself in-house or with the assistance of external panel solicitors
- Making good technical and commercial decisions on claim strategy whilst delivering exceptional customer service
- Regularly communicating and managing relationships with customers, Brokers, Loss Adjusters, Solicitors and other experts
- Coaching and sharing technical knowledge with more junior members of the team
- Working as part of the team to assist in developing our recoveries proposition to take it to the next level

**Person Specification**
- Applicants will be 3-5PQE solicitors or chartered legal executives with a proven ability to handle high value and complex litigated claims
- Property and/or insurance litigation experience would be advantageous but not essential
- Strong analytical skills and decision making acumen
- A recognition of both the commercial and legal issues which need to be considered in order to pursue claimant litigation successfully
- Driven to hit personal and team targets
- An ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated time management and organisation skills
- Proven negotiation skills
- You will be both tenacious and resilient

There will be a requirement for UK travel from time to time.
