**Professional Indemnity Claims Handler (Technical)**

**The role**:
You will handle a portfolio of higher value/more complex Professional Indemnity claims and will assist customers when claims have been made or threatened against them.

You will have daily contact with Hiscox customers and key brokers and will be on the front line of our claims service delivery. You will be required to liaise with key stakeholders, internally and externally and to take referrals and support less experienced members of the UK claims team.

Technical insurance knowledge is a prerequisite; sound commercial and intellectual skills are also required to handle a broad range of technical and legal challenges.

**What you’ll be doing**:

- Full management of a portfolio of higher value, complex and challenging Professional Indemnity claims from first notification to conclusion.
- Reviewing and confirming Hiscox policy coverage position. Strong in-house coverage decision making.
- Setting the claim strategy, handling internally where possible, with mínimal reference to coverage counsel.
- Selection, instruction and active management of external advisers and experts, including solicitors on appropriate matters.
- Liaising and negotiating with customers, brokers, claimants and their representatives, including attendance at mediations, JSM’s and court hearings.
- Demonstrating excellent file handling and claims management through pro-active portfolio management; accurate and timely reserving; effective risk and indemnity costs management.
- Promoting and delivering a continuous improvement culture within the UK Casualty Claims team to deliver a superior customer experience.
- Working closely with underwriters on business development, including renewal meetings and new tender propositions.
- Outside of pure claims handling, taking a leading role in the continuous improvement of our Claims operation in line with our current Claims strategy, whilst identifying areas of opportunity and creating initiatives and solutions.

- A qualified solicitor, legal executive or CII claims professional with a number of years’ experience in handling professional indemnity and management liability claims.
- Strong policy coverage knowledge and experience across a broad range of policies and types of business.
- Robust understanding of litigation and the legal process; knowledge of all methods of dispute resolution.
- Experience of attending Court hearings, mediations and JSM’s.
- Ability to evidence strong organisational and communication skills.
- Commercial acumen with the ability to understand the impact of claims decisions on the wider UK business.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly establish credibility and long lasting relationships within the team, the wider business and with external partners.
- Highly results driven, with the energy and determination to succeed in an environment where the pace and quality of response is critical to success
