**THE ROLE**
This post plays an important role in in the day-to-day function and delivery of the Finance Office. This is a ‘customer facing’ role. The post holder will need to deliver excellent customer service and will play a vital role in building good relationships with both internal and external contacts.
**JOB DESCRIPTION**
The Accounts Assistant will support the Finance team in day-to-day processing and accounting administration. The role is managed by the Finance Manager.
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
- To support the administration of West Buckland Activities Ltd accounts, inclusive of invoice posting, debtor control and costing analysis.
- To support the Payroll & Accounts Officer with invoice management.
- To support the Fees Officer with ad hoc charges and termly invoicing.
- To support the Finance Office and Bursar with any general administration needs.
- To manage the financial aspects of School trips and audit the accounts when the trip has been completed.
- To assist with the administration of all cash transactions.
- To support with the set up of VAT administration.
**OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Maintaining confidentiality and always displaying a high degree of integrity.
- Carryout out any other reasonable requests in line with the broad responsibilities of the role.
**PERSON SPECIFICATION**
**Essential**
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong and competent IT skills and the ability to use a range of Microsoft packages including Word and Excel.
- Strong organization skills and an ability to be able to work independently as required.
- Good team and interpersonal skills.
- Smart in appearance with a welcoming and professional manner.
- Be flexible with a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Able to stay calm under pressure.
- Be diplomatic, discreet, and confidential at all times.
**Desirable**
- AAT 2/3 or similar qualification would be an advantage.
- A good working knowledge of an accounting package.
- Previous accounting experience within the school or charity financial sector.
- Prior experience as either a personal assistant or secretary.
- Experience with working in or with an accounts team.
**REMUNERATION AND HOURS**

**Working hours**
This is a salaried, year-round post, 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday throughout the year. Flexibility will be required and expected due to the nature of the post and the rhythm of the school year.
**Holiday**
25 days’ paid holiday per annum, in addition to Bank and Public holidays. May Day is a normal working day for the school (Open Day) with a day off in lieu.
