Senior Residential Child Care Worker

Abington, United Kingdom Common Thread Full time

**Salary**:£33,500 to £35,000 (this includes sleep over allowance).

Are you a nurturing, fun and interesting person who is passionate and committed to making a difference to the lives of vulnerable young people? Do you have the drive to grow and develop in a professional environment? If you have experience or you’re looking for a new challenge, being a Senior Residential Childcare Worker at Common Thread could be right for you.

Join Common Thread and help to change the lives of children and young people who have been hurt by trauma, abuse and neglect.

We’re looking for a full time Senior Residential Childcare Worker for our Abington home.

**Why join Common Thread?**
- We offer great shift patterns. You work just 10 days out of every 28 days* on a full wage (which includes a sleepover allowance), so you get good life/work balance and a chance to decompress after a 48-hour shift. Overtime is available too if you want it.
- We give you training when you start, and further training opportunities throughout your career with Common Thread.
- You'll get free external counselling to help you cope with the demands of the job, private health cover, a medical benefit scheme and store discount... and lots of great Common Thread events and projects to get involved in.
- We offer a £750 reward every time you successfully refer a new member of staff.
- We have an annual Celebrate and Appreciate evening for staff and family.
- Our shift pattern is 48-hour shift then three days off, 48-hours shift then four days off.

**What the job entails**:
At its heart, your key task will be to help create a safe, nurturing, supportive and healing home for the young people in your care. As part of a team, you’ll provide emotional support, the comfort of routine in a well-run and loving home. There will be lots of home cooking, school runs, activities, and experiences to share - and every day will be different from the last. You’ll support the management and smooth running of your house and, in turn, get great support from your management team at all times.

**What we look for**:
You don’t necessarily need to have experience of working in this sector. It is much more important to us that you are enthusiastic, energetic and your personal values and behaviours align with our own values of putting young people first, of bringing creativity, personal leadership and honesty and integrity to your work.

Your salary will be dependent on your experience and qualifications.

**Benefits**:

- Casual dress
- Company events
- Company pension
- Discounted or free food
