Meed Liaison Practitioner

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Adult Eating Disorder pathway in Lincolnshire, which is currently undergoing transformation in-line with the NHS Long Term Plan.

We are a dynamic and proactive service that delivers a range of evidence-based interventions to support adults with Eating Disorders and work hard to improve awareness and reduce barriers to accessing services across the pathway.

This is an innovative new post, designed to work across systems and services, optimising the experience of patients with eating disorders and disordered eating who requires physical health stabilisation on acute hospital beds.

This is a key role, in the Implementation of MEED guidelines via supporting staff, developing and implementing pathways and processes. The role will work across the different organisations and settings to ensure a more streamlined service for patients and their families.

You will sit across the Safeguarding team at ULHT and LPFT Adult ED in order support excellent provision of MEED within the acute hospital sites. The service links to the regional Specialist Eating Disorder Unit (SEDU) to support seamless transfer of patients.

You will work collaboratively and promote effective working relationships with frontline clinical teams, ensuring effective and appropriate clinical decision-making, within these teams and with external agencies.

You will also be required to demonstrate an ability to represent the organisations, at external forums; working collaboratively with partner agencies, and demonstrating an ability to professionally challenge others and communicate evidence based argument/opinion.

We are seeking a first level registered practitioner, qualified to degree level or equivalent, with experience of supporting patients with eating disorders and/or disorder eating and with experience in delivering improvements in patient safety and quality is essential.

You must have a sound working knowledge of MEED guidelines and an understanding of relevant local and national policy i.e. MHA and MCA

You must have effective influencing and negotiating skills, with the ability to be self-motivated and work as an effective member of the team. In addition, you must be an effective communicator, both written and verbally

This is a Trust-wide post and you will expected to travel across the county, the base can be negotiated.

In addition to the above and as outlined in the job description, the MEED Liaison Practitioner will:
Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for clinical governance of own work within Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation Trust or ULHT according to Trust policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines and standards at all times and promote competent practice within and integrated, multi - disciplinary setting.

Take a lead role in the co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of the MEED/ AEDS training strategy and programme, in conjunction with relevant leads and the MEED Oversight Group.

Receive and participate in regular clinical and management supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines.

Plan and prioritise own clinical workload, service activities, supervision needs, and continuing professional development in the best interests of the service being provided.

Ensure clinical delivery and implementation of the MEED guidance across the acute hospital and other relevant settings.
