The opportunity

Project: The pressure on blue light services has never been greater, with rising demand, constrained funding and greater taxpayer scrutiny. Coupled with sustainability challenges associated with ageing estates and it’s clear that fast, radical, collaborative transformation is needed.

Our clients are delivering services of national importance and we work in partnership with them to ensure they have the buildings and facilities they need to keep the public safe and the country secure. In the blue light sector we have experience in the disposal, acquisition, consultancy, construction, facilities management and strategic advice on the consolidation of estates to deliver value for money and maximum value to communities.

As part of the growing number of projects within Mace, we are seeking a lead who can develop the sector skill set, supporting our regional leads, team and portfolio as part of our exciting regional development plans for growth.

With a strong pipeline of opportunities, we are keen to grow our talent and projects. Joining our senior leadership team, you will lead on some of the most exciting projects Mace delivers, from redesigning and refitting of existing fire, ambulance and police buildings and leading the delivery of vital new purpose-built headquarters or stations that are welcoming to the public incorporating facilities such as gyms and control centres.

The role will take responsibility for supporting the regional teams managing end-to-end delivery and performance of large and complex commissions within the public sector, ensuring that client objectives are met through delivery. We are seeking someone who can act as a senior point of escalation, supporting and leading in business development nationally, financial management and operational management.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Joining the senior leadership team, providing operational management to the Blue Light delivery teams and input into the wider sector growth plans
- Providing development opportunities for team members, supporting the growth plans of the wider sector
- Being responsible for maintaining a strong pipeline and leading in the business development and supporting growth of the team and projects
- Acting as a single point of contact for the business to provide expert and strategic advice about the delivery of projects, including bids, feasibility studies and project delivery
- Acting as a senior point of escalation for projects, providing resolution to issues and managing performance
- Manging and supporting project leads on the financial performance of projects
- Providing day to day strategic direction and support to the Blue Light experts in the regions
- Managing and developing the team skills to ensure objectives are met and clients are supported.
- Establishing and maintaining key relationships with project partners, designers, contractors and other key stakeholders.
- Setting up regular and clear lines of communication to address issues that may arise.
- Attending regular progress meetings with clients to review service delivery and manage issues and opportunities
- Ensuring service delivery quality is maintained and correct team behaviours are promoted.

About you

You hold a relevant degree qualification (chartered or pursuing a similar level of professional qualification will be viewed favourably) and have transferable skills. You have a track record of business planning, business development and delivering work for public and/or private sector clients. You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams. You will have a construction or project management background and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.
