**Job summary**:
We are looking for an Executive Officer to join the Clerk of the Parliaments’ Office in the House of Lords. This is a position where you will be able to support some of our most senior colleagues and members on a daily basis, undertaking a range of tasks from diary management to drafting the daily procedural brief for the Lord Speaker to setting up the House of Lords chamber for the daily proceedings.
This is an exciting opportunity if you enjoy a fast-paced, dynamic working environment and thrive on working with multiple colleagues and teams to deliver an exceptional service, working in the historic Palace of Westminster. There is also the option to work on a hybrid basis 1 to 2 days a week, depending on business need.
**Job description**:
**You’ll be responsible for -**
- Enabling the sitting of the House of Lords, including setting up the Chamber and preparing procedural briefs for both the Chamber and Grand Committee sittings.
- Providing a professional front-of-house service, including responding to a wide and varied range of enquiries from members and staff.
- Providing high-level secretarial support to senior staff and members, including diary management, and organising meetings.
- Providing Committee Assistant support to the Services Committee and Finance Committee including proofing and circulating papers.

- Strong organisational and time-management skills, and the ability to manage several important/urgent tasks at once.
- Experience of working effectively with others as part of a team, demonstrating reliability, a flexible approach to work, and adapting to a range of situations, individuals, and groups; ability to build relationships both within and outside of the House of Lords at all levels.
- The ability to respond swiftly and constructively to unforeseen events, showing problem-solving and analytical skills, and a high level of initiative; experience of using online and other resources to retrieve information to resolve questions or uncertainties independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to represent the office appropriately to a wide range of people.
- Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines, working reliably under pressure remaining calm and focused; ability to maintain attention to detail and produce accurate work.**It would be even better if you had**
- Experience of working with senior level staff.
- Good understanding of Records Management disposal practices.
- Experience of using content management systems to update websites.
- Good IT skills and experience using MS Word, Outlook and Excel.
