Thrapston, United Kingdom Higher Hopes Ltd Full time

**WELCOME BONUS* *TRAVEL ALLOWANCE* *ONGOING TRAINING**
- Higher hopes Ltd provide therapeutic services to ‘looked after’ children and young people. We aim to provide a loving, safe and nurturing home focused on working with traumatised young people and create a positive future._

We are currently looking to welcome 4 Therapeutic Care Workers to our Team

As a TCW you will be working with and supporting vulnerable young people aged between 8 and 18 years who have adverse childhood trauma, attachment disorders and are highly vulnerable to CSE.

Due to the history of our young ladies, behaviours can be challenging and unpredictable. You may experience verbal and physical aggression, destructive behaviours, absconding from the home and self-harm. We always have the child’s best interest at heart and ensure we support them in a way that works best for them. At times, if a young person is a risk to themselves or somebody else physical intervention is used as a last resort.
- Experience in a similar setting is always an advantage, however transferable skills from police, prison, military, adult social care and fostering are a great_

You will be based at our 5 bedded home in rural Cambridgeshire, with close links to the A1 and A14. The single site is split in to two buildings with a large 5 bedded property for 4 young people and a separate single bedded annex.

Being a TCW means you will be a positive role model to all the young people in our care and the staff you work alongside. You will build positive and meaningful relationships with the girls, support them with their goals and ambitions. Promote their wellbeing, rights, and independence, helping them to group socially and emotionally. The role will vary day to day depending on the needs of the girls and will include support with basic life skills, household duties, shopping and school runs.

**Main role and responsibilities**:

- To give support and guidance to the young people
- Provide a safe and nurturing home in which the children can grow emotionally and socially
- Safeguard each young resident, identify concerns and report them effectively
- Use Positive Behaviour Support Plans to understand the needs of the young person and what their strengths and goals are
- Implement and maintain clear and consistent boundaries
- Play an active part in everyday life including household duties, school runs, health appointments, contact visits and extracurricular activities
- To be a role model to children, young people and staff
- Ensure all needs of the home are met and staff receive ongoing support and training

**Person Specification**:

- Have an understanding of safeguarding and challenging behaviours
- Organised and motivated, with a genuine passion for supporting young people
- A willingness to go the extra mile
- Ability to remain calm and positive under pressure
- A flexible approach to meet the needs of the home
- To be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- To fulfil all aspects of your role in line with our policies and procedures positively and with a ‘can do’ attitude

**Essential Criteria**:

- Hold a Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience of working with or supporting vulnerable children and young people

**What you can expect from us**:

- Welcome bonus paid during probation period
- Travel allowance*
- Provide effective training with expert in house support and training partners
