Senior Nursing Assistant - Children’s Community Complex Care Team

**About the Role**
The post holder will be part of a care team providing support and day to day care for children and young people requiring complex packages of care within the home, community, hospital and school setting.
On occasions the post holder may have to work within the wider services of the Children’s Community Nursing Team such as the general nursing service and special need school nurses.
The post holder will work under the direction of the team leader and nursing staff to set standards and protocols of care. He/she will carry out specialised care in an unsupervised capacity.

**What you'll be responsible for**:
1. To assist in the planning and delivery of care as directed by the nursing staff.
2. To note any changes in the child’s condition or home circumstances, and report to nursing staff.
3. To be familiar with any specialised equipment/aids necessary for giving individualised care and to use these under the direction of the nursing staff.
4. To provide emotional support to the child and the family as part of the continuing care team.
5. To be able to act appropriately with initiative in a crisis situation.
6. To be aware of child protection policies and procedures referring to the Team Leader when appropriate.
7. To observe confidentiality and ensure Trust Social Networking Policy is adhered to at all times.
8. To ensure that the most efficient use of resources is maintained and inform the Team Leader of any issues.
9. To keep records according to Trust policy. To participate in meetings concerning the individual child as appropriate.
10. To be proficient in all aspects of individual care needs of the client group by undertaking initial training appropriate to the post and identify any individual training needs as they arise informing the Team Leader.
11. Report any mishaps, incidents or complaints to your Team Leader in accordance with Trust policy.
12. Work flexibly as part of a rota that includes day and night shifts over a seven day period.
- As a member of the nursing team you are expected to demonstrate attitudinal competence through a professional, approachable, and helpful manner towards clients, their families and carers, visitors, and colleagues throughout the organisation. You are also expected to actively support high standards of care delivery and challenge poor practice should you find it.
**You’ll have the following qualification/experience**:
- A minimum of 6 months paid experience as a band 3 Senior Paediatric Support Worker in a NHS/Private hospital setting along with a NCQ or Care Certificate.
- A minimum of 12 months paid experience as a band 3 Care Support Worker in a NHS/Private hospital setting.
- **Depending on the Trust, you may require variable additional certification and skills.**_
