**About the Communities and Integration Directorate**

The Communities and Integration Directorate is at the heart of the Government’s commitment to level up opportunity across diverse communities. Through our deep engagement with communities and local authorities across the country, we use the latest data and evidence to improve people’s quality of life in the places they live.

The Communities and Integration Directorate leads on integration and social cohesion policy, faith and belief policy, and anti-extremism policy (including racial and religious hate crime).
- We lead on community spaces and relationships and community empowerment, including Levelling Up White Paper commitments.
- We work across Whitehall to improve outcomes and inequalities for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities
- We are Government’s lead department on faith and belief policy.
- We work to build stronger communities through interventions that address local cohesion challenges, including tackling hate crime and extremism.
- We build institutional capability to understand and counter extremism in communities, religious hatred and community tensions, and promote freedom of expression.

**Job description**:
The Prime Minister and DLUHC SoS have indicated that a priority outcome for delivering levelling up is through economic growth. Building social capital alongside economic capital can deliver a range of social and economic outcomes for people and places. This is why the Communities Team’s work is important in helping to build community capital, supporting local people to manage their community assets and have pride in where they live.

The Communities team are looking for an enthusiastic Executive Officer to support the team in their policy work.

You will provide support to the team on administrative matters, including co-ordinating visits to stakeholders, drafting briefing notes for ministers and senior officials, helping to strengthen team knowledge through desk research, stakeholder engagements, as well as taking a leading role in dealing with correspondence and supporting parliamentary business.

Not all communities have accessible, sustainable community places and spaces in which to meet, so there will also be opportunities in this team to build relationships and engage with key internal and external stakeholders to understand the issues and support the Secretary of State ministers in delivering the levelling up agenda

- Have great communication and interpersonal skills
- Have attention to detail
- Have excellent organisational skills, with ability to prioritise workloads whilst remaining flexible to new challenges.
- Be adept at resolving issues and collaborating with others to achieve our objectives
- Be adept at drafting responses to correspondence.
- Be forward thinking, with a desire to bring new ideas to the team
- Be competent with IT systems, including working with shared filing systems
- Possess a can-do attitude
