The role of the Room Leader is to lead and take responsibility of the day to day running of the room and team of staff, in line with the five core functions whilst delivering the highest standards of childcare.

The role of the Third In Charge is to lead and take responsibility of the day to day running of the setting in the absence of the manager & deputy, in line with the five core functions whilst delivering the highest standards of childcare.

**Role & Responsibilities**:

- Work in collaboration with the management team
- Promote our values and ethos to ensure a child-centred, safe and stimulating environment is provided whilst meeting the individual needs of every child.
- Take part in the day to day operational aspects of the nursery in line with policies, safeguarding, Ofsted requirements, local authority guidance, health and safety and equal opportunities.
- Ensure that all aspects of the Statutory Framework for Early Years Foundation Stage and Welfare requirements are delivered to the highest standard.
- Maintain and supervise procedures for review and assessment of each child’s progress.
- Support and manage alongside the manager an effective parent liaison programme.
- Take accountability of role modelling and empowering your staff team to deliver high standards of childcare whilst complying with all aspects of the Statutory Framework for Early Years Foundation Stage and Welfare requirements.
- Implement an effective key person approach.
- Lead the room team while promoting positivity and professionalism.
- Effective leader with a genuine desire to train and develop staff, supervising and supporting their professional development and day to day practice.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and up to date
- Complete regular peer on peer observations.
- Ensure health and safety at all times.
- Manage the cleanliness and hygiene of the setting in order to maintain the nursery appearance.
- Work alongside the kitchen to ensure EHO standards are kept to a high level.

**Essential**
- Must have worked previously within a nursery at supervisory level
- Good teamwork and willingness to work with the Ashbourne Support Team.
- Hold a relevant childcare qualification - minimum level 3.
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted requirements.
- Able to demonstrate ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload.
- Good planning, organisational and management skills.
- An excellent understanding of child development and the ability to recognise and address any concerns.
- Able to show empathy and understanding towards children, staff and parents
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hour per week on rota)
- Eligible to obtain Enhanced DBS Reference and able to provide original copies of required qualifications.
- Two satisfactory references, one must be from most recent employer.
- Willingness to travel to other Nurseries in the Ashbourne Group.
