A position has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated experienced individual to undertake a part time role within our GP Practice reception team, We are looking for an experienced GP Receptionist with care navigation skills, who understands the need for confidentiality at all times, respectful to others and be an excellent team player.

**About us**

We are a friendly 2-site PMS practice in Wakefield. Our current list size of approx 11,000.

We have 5 GP Partners, 3 salaried GPs, along with a Practice Nurse Team including a Triage Nurse, 3 Practice Nurses, 3 HCA’s and 1 Phlebotomist. We also have an admin team and secretarial team, a Practice Manager and Assistant Practice Manager.

The successful applicant will work within our current reception team consisting of both part time and full time staff members, headed up by a reception team leader.

We are part of a Wakefield Primary Care Network (PCN) and have a Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, Social Prescriber, Care Co-Ordinator, CPN Nurse, 2 Paramendics and a First Contact Physio whom all work across the Primary Care Network.

**Job Summary**:
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Using the clinical system to make appointments, issue repeat prescriptions, arrange sick notes and other requests as appropriate.

Provide general assistance as part of the practice team and project a positive and approachable image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

**Responsibilities**:
Administration
- To have a thorough knowledge of General Practice procedures.
- To work in accordance of written protocols
- Dealing with electronic tasks from colleagues
- Updating patients notes as and when appropriate
- Scan or photocopy as requested and appropriate

Reception
- Receiving patients consulting with members of practice team
- Being able to produce repeat prescriptions for patient and checking names and address, recording who collects the prescription or went sent electronically to.
- Filing of information and stocking as required
- Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary
- Being able to cover colleagues during holiday and sickness periods when requested

Appointments
- Understand and offer care navigation to patients, ensuring the patient sees the most appropriate clinician for their need.
- Process appointment requests for today and future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
- Deal with visits requests

Computer
- Registrations of new patients - computer data entry and medical records.
- Process patients change of address - computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area).
- Process repeat prescription request in accordance with practice guidelines.

Telephone
- Have working knowledge of telephone systems, during and after hours.
- Remain courteous at all times and help patients with their requests.

Other Tasks
- Stock rooms before surgeries and clear rooms after surgeries finished
- Ensure building security - have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
- Make tea / coffee for doctors
- Any other tasks allocated by managers
- Cover for colleagues during holiday, sickness and extended hours sessions where appropriate.
