About the Role

Your skills and experience should cover the spectrum of material published in The Lancet. You should be able to work in a team-based and ever-changing environment with international reach. Your writing skills to present complex medical, public health and policy topics of worldwide importance should be first class.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assessing submitted research papers, making editorial recommendations, and overseeing the peer review process
- Taking part in the critical assessment of other editors’ papers cross The Lancet family at pre-review and post-review stages
- Negotiating revisions with authors ensuring that manuscripts accepted for publication meet the highest standards of medical and scientific reporting
- Monitoring ongoing research activity in allocated specialty areas.
- Communicating with international key medical researchers and attract key clinical trials to The Lancet
- Commissioning Seminars and Reviews in agreement with the commissioning team

**Requirements**:

- Have a degree in medicine and research experience in a clinical setting, or a PhD and research experience are required
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have a solid grasp of technologies used in day-to-day editorial work
- Able to identify develop and manage opportunities with knowledge of regulatory environment in healthcare and academia.
- Be passionate about research, researchers, science, health care, and global health
